What an incredible, incredible animation style! A fusion of modern, sharp forms (like Cosmo & Wanda or Hercules) and medieval, mystic symbols with real stunning background paintings and shading overall. You really have to see this for its look alone. The soundtrack is also pleasing and adds to the unique, mature note of the film. Took me a while to see how it reminded me of Princess Mononoke, accidentally one of my all-time-favorites. 9 years 8 months ago -

This film looks amazing, like a Celtic illumination come to life. At its best, the art and the score combine to produce moments that are achingly beautiful. Acting is very good, with actors doing very well with characters who are often quite uninteresting, Aisling excepted; she's amazing and there should have been more of her.
There are a lot of problems with the story, which jumps around a lot, and the pacing, which seems very off, I think because there are a lot of cuts all the time, even in scenes which should be slow, meaning that the moments which should be tense, calm, horrifying, or sad never get a chance to make an impact. 9 years 10 months ago -

The story is charming, and the artwork is gorgeous. But it was the score that really did it for me. 10 years ago
