   Features one of the biggest WTF climaxes from a movie that isn't a thriller or a horror movie for me personally.
   
   I think the comment about the actors coming off a bit hammy is due to the fact that this movie was originally a play which feature performances that are usually more exaggerated (at least the ones that I've seen).
   
   The opening scene is pretty weak though, but tough it out and you'll be rewarded. 7 years 11 months ago

   Probably a bit misunderstood. I don't think we are meant to judge Evelyn's actions any more than the rest of the characters. Everybody is manipulative and unpleasant in their own peculiar way, even if some are more than others. In that sense the film is less moralizing than it is psychological and sociological, although not entirely successfully. There is that very human drive to reshape people to conform with our own desires, as well as the insecurities that lead us to sacrifice our better selves.

   In that regard, I would say that Evelyn, rather than being judged as cruel and manipulative, could also be seen as admirable in the sense that she is never anything but true to her self and to her personal vision.

   If anything is wrong with this film, it's the performances, which are by turns hammy, over-reaching, or simply awkward. Not that these are not fine actors, but they seemed to struggle a bit with this material. 9 years 3 months ago

   suppose I did'nt get this one. There's this guy - he is slattern and unconfident, but that does'nt seem to stop him from jumping on every woman who shows him attention. His charismatic girlfriend make a man from this total loser and in the end we are forced to jugde her actions. Very confusing and moralistic. 10 years 5 months ago
