Yet another take on The Three Little Pigs by Warner Brothers and yet again they deliver a pretty amusing spin on the fairy tale. Everyone knows that the wolf is the bad guy but is it really true? In this Looney Tunes short, we get a behind the scenes look at what exactly happened between the pigs and the wolf. It is 100% true and unfabricated, I'm sure of it.
Synopsis
The nephew of Big Bad Wolf (or just B.B.) arrives at his uncle's huffing and puffing furiously. He heard the story about his uncle and the three little pigs and is completely flabbergasted that his uncle could ever do such an awful thing. His uncle reassures him and says that he's only heard one side of the story. He begins recounting the event from his unbiased and honest point of view.
Review
Mel Blanc pulls out all the stops to give each of his characters a unique voice and succeeds as usual. The three pigs are probably the funniest part of this short and they're just deliciously mean spirited. You got to feel bad for poor Big Bad, he's just an honest and nice guy! It's pretty clear from this short that those three bullies deserved what they got in the end.
The Turn-Tale Wolf isn't as funny as other The Three Little Pigs adaptations like Pigs in a Polka or Three Little Bops but it's still pretty good. It's mostly a lot of Looney Tunes violence but there's nothing wrong with that either of course. Mel Blanc gets some good moments to strut his stuff and he is clearly the best part of The Turn-Tale Wolf.
This is a Warner Brothers short that I missed when I was younger but I'm glad I saw it in the end. I advise everyone to see this 100% legit recounting of what happened between B.B. and those three mean pigs because we've all had the wool pulled over our eyes for too long. To those who point to the possible brewing of moonshine in B.B. house, try not to jump to conclusions. I believe that he was brewing some surprise alcohol-free apple cider for his nephew and that's why he was trying to hide it.
