Alfredo Castro's performance has got to be one of the greatest screen portrayals of a psychopath - he is mesmerising: utterly hollow, dangerously unpredictable and pathetic all at once. The seedy, green-tinged cinematography of 1980s Chile and the clever editing add to the general feeling of nausea, balanced with some wickedly dark humour and social satire. A sorely under-rated film.
yes dombrewer. spot on! he is an absolute force, i couldn't take my eyes off him. i love the way it's shot so close up and handheld
