   A Blue Roar

   I love how there can easily go 10 seconds between anybody saying something. Kurosawa was great at putting the audience in the same kind of relaxed meditation as the actors. 14 years ago

   A bit too short perhaps, and with some slightly superfluous song and dance moments in my opinion, but still very enjoyable and well made.
   
   Kurosawa tells an interesting story in his autobiography from the set of this film. It was made during the last year of the second world war, and hadn't been finished yet as the war ended and the American occupation started. Therefore American soldiers visited the set, sometimes wanting to pose for photos being attacked by swords etc.
   
   Anyway, one time apparently a group of admirals and high-ranking officers visited the set, this time observing quietly. Well, years later Kurosawa met the director John Ford, one of his major influences, who told him that he had been one of those men, quietly observing, and had left a note, which Kurosawa never received. 3 years 5 months ago

   A real jewel! A masterpiece made with low budget during wartime. The way Kurosawa manages to play with your nerves is astonishing.
