I mostly liked it - a good satire/comedy about power dynamics and class that was entertaining most of the way through. A bit on the nose, but looking at the last decade maybe that's what's needed.I struggled a bit in Act 3 though - it really could have been either:
- 30 minutes shorter as it made its point about inverting power dynamics fairly quickly and effectively; or
- 15 minutes longer, because the rest of the act felt like it was building to something that never really came.
Overall very interesting and entertaining.

How much on the nose can a film be?Alec Chalmers
What peterskb45 said, except it's hardcore punk with an anarcho-marxist slant, not heavy metal.K.
Basically just a combination of The Admirable Crichton and Wertmüller's Swept Away.peterskb45
If you want to see the uber-rich sh*t themselves at sea to a heavy metal soundtrack, then Triangle of Sadness is the movie for you.saurabhsood18
Just saw it at the BFI London Film Festival, where the director presented it with his hilarious stage antics and got the crowd ready for it. The movie was more than excellent and you realise why Rueben is the youngest person to win the Palme d'Or twice. Overall great performances. Just a beautiful insane hilarious thoughtful film that really dives deeper into the class divide Parasite presented the audiences earlier.elcid
Very good black humor film about our war driven economy. It has a touch of barrock voluptuousness and sadness.Siskoid
There are people who tip, people who get tips, and then people below decks who never get a tip. Privilege is an ongoing concern in today's cinema, and I'm a little over it even if these movies are preaching to the converted (or perhaps BECAUSE they are). Some are quite fun, but they're too often blunt instruments, over-obvious in their satire. And so it is with Triangle of Sadness, which works better for me on thematics than it does that satire. The privileged in the movie like to say they want equality, but their faux-hippie, faux-feminist, faux-socialist values crumble when push comes to shove. So early scenes between the two models, where the man tries to be all modern, are supported by other moments where power dynamics are flipped, or the film presents us with equalizers like sickness, body fluids, hunger and yes, love. It's in this playfulness that I find myself in this, because making neoliberals suffer indignities is just rote at this point. And there's always going to be at least one HUGE STAR on screen to make these films hypocritical, so... More interesting here is how people accept roles, whether gender or class, when they don't have to. Now that's some Baby Buster dogma I subscribe to.boulderman
Great film. From the restaurant scene to the commentary about the Rolex guy, I felt this was the same guy from The Square (I was at the premiere and Q&A with the director).Enjoyed it :)
First mate smoked and looked like the cigarette when overboard which is banned under maritime law
Big spoiler in trivia on IMDb and prime video which I've since edited to suit.
