That Gloria kid was such a fucking twat.
Tense, well done, Hitchcockian thriller, until you realize two things...
1. Hepburn's character has no reason not to just give the doll up.
2. The bad guys go through a overly convoluted scheme to get the doll, when they really just could've broken in, held her captive and ransacked the place. She obviously couldn't identify them to the police afterwards.
Also, I'm surprised at the comments here praising Hepburn's acting. I thought she was terribly overwrought. GASOLINE!!
Still, despite my negative post, I actually really enjoyed the film.
Great performance from Hepburn, but the whole enterprise is let down by a silly screenplay, where the plot requires the villains to enact an overly complex, frustrating, and ultimately self-defeating scheme.
