Obviously Wayne's World 2 has to hit some of the same notes as the first film, and it wouldn't be Wayne's World without the same catch phrases, but somewhat surprisingly, it does enough of a remix to stand out and doesn't go for the same exact jokes. I would, in fact, say it's on par with the original in everything but how iconic it's become (well, how could it?). Now, "let's put on a show" is one of the most trite and overdone movie plots possible, but I think that's part of the joke. Replacing Rob Lowe with Christopher Walken is a definite improvement, and happily, Wayne and Cassandra are still together (though Wayne's ugly jealousy still comes between them). On this second go, they've managed to corral more guest stars to enliven random scenes - though I have little use for Garth's film noir subplot with a fatale Kim Basinger seeing as it doesn't really resolve - and with their TV and history spoofs, show a deft understanding of pop culture that doesn't age as badly as Scary Movie etc. Less outright mugging too. But like WW1, WW2 never managed to make me laugh out loud (hm, maybe I should use those abbreviations).chunkylefunga
Definitely better than the first movie.Gunness
Actually, I think this is better than the first one. The script is an inprovement, for one thing.Jashezilla
Very disappointing. Most of the gags are repeats that don't land nearly as well as they did in the original, and where they try to be a bit more unique, it just doesn't work. It's good to have Wayne & Garth back though, and it's still an enjoyable watch solely to get more of the characters. Rest assured though, the party is on, it's just not very excellent.badblokebob
Definitely worse than the first movie. Gags are merely repeated or echoed from before, to diminished effect; whole storylines go nowhere at all; and there aren't any particularly memorable moments, whereas the first film was stacked with them.
