It seems clear to me - a point obviously missed by most critics - that Lazlo is a figment of Thomson's imagination, or rather: a delusion conjured forth by his compulsive alcohol and drug abuse. A source for inspiration perhaps, but also a threat to his work - and even his sanity. The movie is frequently amusing, crazy and silly as it is, but there is no reason to care for Thompson as there is no dramatic or emotional substance and the comedy is just not funny enough to compensate for it. 10 years 8 months ago -
Jumping Elephant
pretty much on par with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Bill Murray does just as good of a job as Depp, and Peter Boyle might even do a better job than Benecio del Toro. 12 years 5 months ago
