My favorite Fincher, and one of the best of the previous decade. Don't expect a new Se7en. This isn't a horror or any action flick. Don't expect to get too thrilled. This is all about the characters and how they waste their lives trying to catch the killer.
The more i think about this movie the more i'm surpriesed how polymorphic fincher can be. Like seven, this is a procedural movie. Unlike seven this is the real world: the case can't be solved, we will never know why Zodiac kill those people, what was in his mind, or even how many of them he really killed. The more i think about this movie the less it seems a procedural movie and becomes a movie about obsession. We have to know the truth like gillenhal: he is a normal guy, worried about his son, scared by this maniac who ended so many lifes, and when he thinks that everybody has given up on the case he HAS to find the truth, Zodiac is his obsession. But in reality the case is not closed, nobody has really forgotten Zodiac, he rapresents the uknown, the misterious, scary and dark side of life that never leaves us.
In the end the only thing that matters is that look, that last stare into the eyes of lee. What he sees is what you see: a killer? A psycopath? Or a simple man, wrongfuly accused?
The more i think about this movie the more i love it
the first film that comes to mind when I explain the term "underrated". The case was truly interesting, but the storytelling was just great. The movie shifted between three narrators, each one losing a bit of their life to the case only to get crushed when their results backfire. Good movie. Definitely worth watching.
This true story of the investigation surrounding the Zodiac killer who terrorized San Fran with murders and a letter-writing campaign in the 60s and 70s is Fincher's most mature to date. You won't find the indulgent flourishes of Fight Club or the phantasmagoria of Se7en here. Instead, an almost absurd attention to detail and a simple storytelling style that is at once easy to follow and totally engrossing.
A tad too long, but everything else was great. Especially loved the soundtrack and cinematography - that bird's eye view-shot following the car in the beginning of the film; and the tilting shot from under the top of the Golden Gate Bridge were fantastic. Also great performances by Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo and Brian Cox.
Yes, it's great but goddamn, show me something once in a while rather than just talk and talk and talk. Technically amazing but Fincher doesn't demonstrate the same passion for his characters as they do to finding out the identity of the title character. Moves at a clip due to the editing and the rapid fire delivery of lines (there is hardly a thirty second span without dialogue).

It is certainly not bad, but it drags a bit. Fincher has directed better films.TEOS

A film so good, you forget it was made in 2007. Everything about it feels like a 90s film for some reason.bpstp

Are there any cop drama cliches missing from this dreadful movie?Showing items 1 – 15 of 29
