My first movie was Gulliver's Travels in 1939. As a child I felt I didn't get to see enough movies. I discovered foreign films in my late teens, and the next American films I saw were on Norwegian TV in the late 60s. The advent of the VCR made it possible to apply to film the librarians' slogan, "the right book for the right reader at the right time." It was a great gift to me in childraising. Our autistic daughter learned sequencing by watching the same movie over and over. Our son later majored in film in college. I'm now in my 70s and in declining health. Netflix, streaming, utube, and online sites like ICM continue to enrich my film experience daily.
