This is certainly the most fun, yet classy Ghibli film ever made.
The story is simple but the execution is flawless, everything from the humour, the characters, the music and flashbacks work together to create something you grow to deeply care about.
Marco and Fio are such likeable guys, I was in sheer awe watching Fio talk down the Pirates. That is one scene no one is likely to ever forget. She is a gorgeous little heroine, really spunky and loveable. She definitely enhances the story hugely.
I think the romance that is tingling at the outskirts is handled cleverly and just enough to have impact. Gina is a really great Ghibli female.
The story of Marco is a very special and mysterious one. The standout scene is where Fio is sleeping and he tells her a story. It is one of the most moving and profound parts of the entire film and undoubtedly one of the most important scenes from any Ghibli.
Moving on from the serious side. The humour shines. Porco Rosso is incredibly funny and well written. I can't count how many times I laughed out loud watching this. The fight has me rolling on the floor, it is absolutely fantastic.
The music is so upsetting and stunning here. The piano pieces and vocal tunes really bring me to tears every time I hear them. I finished watching my Blu-ray just now and when the end credits began, I was practically crying.
So all in all, I believe this may be my favourite Ghibli ever. It gets better every time I see it. It is a restrained piece of work but it constantly gives you what you want (case in point, the ending). Amazing.
I went into the screening of this expecting it to be some trailer reel of the best films ever made and boy was I wrong.
This is an exceptionally made movie about the magic of movies. It celebrates all that we love and hope to see in a movie all in the space of about 30 minutes.
It's a love story fuelled by our love for Cinema. It was funny, clever and extremely emotional. The main premise of the film is a modern day guy is on his phone (in your actual screening) and gets zapped in to the screen (that you are seeing in front of you). He ends up meeting a beautiful French woman and they go through different scenes themed from different classic films all the while falling in love. It's very special stuff.
It included snippets and homages to some of our favourite films like Metropolis, Safety Last, Titanic, Casablanca and many others. The use of fantastic music really heightened the emotion and it helped everything come together beautifully.
The use of the stage around the screen was nothing short of staggering, swords, dust, doors all appearing through the screen/stage. You really have to see this to believe it. I believe there were also 4D elements too, like falling rain etc...
I was overwhelmed on a number of occasions and the kid in front of me was clearly sad too (he cried). Absolutely magnificent.
I had high hopes before watching Claymore. I knew it was a high calibre Anime, but I wasn't prepared for how absolutely excellent it was going to be.
The 26 episodes flew by and I was left wanting double the amount. It is a perfectly paced story that hooks you in right away. The beauty of the story is its simplicity, but the development of the characters/relationships is subtle enough to work very well. I felt very emotional watching the relationship between Clare and Raki, also very much so with Teresa of the Faint Smile.
The action is the main key of this show and it is handled with massive success. Some of the monster design is really shockingly good. I was reminded of the massive scale of Evangelion during some of the fights with the Awakened Beings. It is jaw dropping stuff.
My favourite thing about this World is the transformation the Claymore go through, I never got tired of seeing their faces change and become more Yoma like.
The only flaws I have with the show are that the Claymores look very much alike and the language is quite repetitive ("Just what in the World"). But that is pretty much it.
The show ended the right way for me and I can now safely say it is one of my favourite Anime series of all time. It has excellent characters, fantastic theme music and general music, a super story and is genuinely touching and exciting.
You take an incredible journey with this one. It's full of crazy and awesome characters, excellent action and music, extremely funny moments and totally obscure ones.
It always feels like there is something more important to be discovered around the corner, it turns out that is a beautiful friendship.
Initially you are struck by how incredibly gorgeous the animation and style of this show is. You must see this in HD.
Characters, story and dialogue are all charming and very complex. Hitagi is a beautiful and deep character and she is an enigma all the way till the end. Araragi and his funny as Hell hair were real "stand out" moments haha. Oshino has to be one of the coolest bad ass support characters ever.
The monsters and transformations were really great. I loved the crab, the snakes and the cat. Cat humans with big tits are never a bad thing, are they? Add pyjamas to that and it is good people.
I found the structure of the show a bit hit and miss, the colour screens and insanely fast intertitles were both a help and a hindrance, I can imagine they would be perfect if you stopped and paused it, but who wants to do that on a first viewing.
It's a very dark, sexy and hilarious show and one I will definitely be returning to. The ending music is God damn awesome too! I listened to it every time.
Fascinating, challenging and very engrossing Anime. It's full of weird, wacky and wonderful goings on and characters that will leave you with a smile on your face.
It demands to be seen more than once, you definitely won't mind as it is beautifully animated and accompanied by some really cool jazz music.
A very welcome change from the oversatured kawaii Anime market.
Absolutely incredible series. It blew me away completely.
It's funny, deep, exciting, sad and awesome. The animation and characters are hugely impressive, the characters are so well designed and the girls are adorable. I really loved the way the eyes were animated, especially when emotions were on a high.
I felt myself getting so wrapped up in this towards the end that I was shaking and getting overwhelmed. The ending to episode 12 was a kick to the gut, very powerful. The revelations throughout were very clever and inspired.
The way the show ending was superb in my eyes, I consider this to be a masterpiece of Anime.

One of the best animated films I've seen in years. It's fairly cliché, but executed unbelievably well. It's full of adorable characters, exciting set pieces and a heart warming friendship between a bear and a mouse.

It's a very well done character study. The characters are all great to watch develop and you feel for them, be it in a good or bad way.
The movie ended with absolute class for me. I recommend it to anyone that wants to see a family thriller.
Gosling and Cooper are at their finest here.
