if you're not a fan ... this is almost as insufferable as Satantango (because of the length) though this feels like a 240 minute sprint in comparison to the other extremely drawn out film I mentioned. Still, interesting, informative, funny, fun, lighthearted with a bit of "The History of New Line Cinema" thrown in for good measure and reason. If I had to chose which one I'd watch again, I'd be pilloried (or subject to some sort of Elm St #2 torturous death).
The Aurskog-Hølands Line operated from 1896 to 1960.
A portion of the track is part of a museum railway.
Other parts have become motorways and bike paths,
and some has been plowed under or overgrown by woods ...
Can we talk? Cheesecake, beefcake, and more cheese than toasted cheese day at the local elementary school! Wonder if they paid full retail at Sharper Image for those "Plasma Globes". Just reeks of everything we want to forget about the 80s: from the hair to the jazzercise leotards repurposed by the costume department. And they really thought we'd buy a repainted, derelict industrial site as a space ship? Oh, grow up!
Found this much more interesting than that vast majority of 'shtuff' on the Zombie list. Won't say I was scared though there was one brief moment that caught me unprepared for the jump. Thought it was well-made and the juxtaposition of superstition against a reasonable war-related fear makes one wonder. Interesting and worthwhile watch, especially if approached more as a psychological thriller than 'classic' horror.
While not an advocate of violence directed at women, twelve minutes in and I want to do physical harm to Lindsay & Jennie - god are they annoying!
Given the comments, I don't expect this to improve. :(
It's over. Yes, improbably disgusting but I actually believe there is a message in this film:
We are all connected. What one does affects the others. The mad scientist represents bad technology and it's clear 'downstream' detrimental consequences. Notice, no one gets out of this mess alive and the authorities are so worthless they drown themselves.
No, it's not a happy movie and it's a rather odd way to get one's message across. Too bad most people are so repulsed by the concept and its execution that the message is ultimately lost.
The only way this movie could be considered a success is == even though production values are high and Laser plays his role to the hilt -- is if one is using a disgustometer. That has to be the only instrument on which this film scores high.
What a waste. What a waste.
PS: Listening to the director interview,
no longer have any confidence in my earlier assessment - seems it's all about grossing people out
, but I still stand by both my interpretation of the artwork and the waste of a disc.
the official site does forward one to the Vimeo link - no idea about the missing footage. Noticed an abrupt cut during the dance and clearly it wasn't quite finished at the end. No other links or leads currently available.
