Found it flat, pretentious, and full of cliche. It was awful trying to see the strife of the millennial generation represented by a Hollywood cast and director. The only enjoyable part for me was Harrison Ford's performance. Not recommended.
Note: as of right now (2014-03-15) the cover of this film is wrong on the iCM thumbnail. It is displaying the cover of a more recent feature adaptation of Cool Air.
Thanks gandalf! I'll add it to the list. I'm a bit confused because that page and IMDB say it's from 2006 but everywhere else, including Rotten Tomatoes and Wikipedia, say it's from 2013.
As I said in my list description: "Short films (30 minutes or less) are not included." I'll check out those two shorts you listed and see if they qualify.
I wasn't a huge fan of this. I thought it had issues with pacing, and it wasn't great at giving payoffs for everything it set up. Very 70s, though, in a good way, and it did have some creepy moments. It would've helped if it picked a single protagonist. Still worth the watch, just don't expect greatness.
Really enjoyed this little documentary. As a huge 80s buff it was a lot of fun seeing the archival footage and getting the inside story about the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling! Fun and even a bit heartwarming.
It's a grindhouse movie that delivers exactly what it promises in the title. If you're a fan of grindhouse, you'll enjoy it. TONS of nudity with gratuitous violence and gore, just like any good exploitation flick should have.
It's rough around the edges, that's for sure, but that doesn't mean it should be passed over. It's got something to say about the 1960s, and being made so shortly after the decade's end, the perspective is interesting. There's gratuitous sex and drug use, yes, but the animation and commentary (both the veiled and the overt) make this piece worth the 78 minutes of your time.
To echo other comments: ABSOLUTELY watch the series AND "End of Evangelion" before this. This is almost a recap of what you'll see there, with far fewer details and less cohesion.
After you watched the series and EoE, you might wanna give this a watch after not seeing the series for a while, or perhaps read through the special features of the DVD which explain things to you that aren't explained in the show.
This movie was fun! Seriously! It knew exactly what it was, and the audience benefited. Aside from the Asylum-quality CGI, this movie shines brightly. It goes from "okay" to "memorable" because of the top-notch acting by the main character and his sidekick. I hope to see this movie's protagonist, Alex, sit side by side with Ash Williams and the other great horror comedy good-guy slayers.
Poorly lit, poorly shot, laughable acting and character motivation...this movie had the potential to be creepy, with some of its costuming choices and the questionable nature of reality, but it really didn't go anywhere with them. It had some good death scenes, though. The ending was a terrible mishmash, unfortunately. I would not recommend.
This film was unlike anything I've ever seen, and I highly recommend it. Yes, it was confusing, but it was INTENTIONALLY confusing. The director intended the film to feel surreal and dreamlike, and he did a marvelous job. It wasn't about the characters or the story so much as it was about the experience. Honestly, it's one of the most cinematic films ever made, and it deserves a watch (the music was excellent too, really set the atmosphere).
I love the new "Total Film's 50 Amazing Films You've Probably Never Seen" and "iCM Forum's 500<400" lists! iCM has exposed me to so many new films I would otherwise never have seen. That's one of my favorite aspects of the site, and these lists are MADE for that purpose! How cool is that? (Also, it lets me feel proud that I've got some checks on the 500<400 list)
I loved the shots of multiple Keatons, and while the comedy in this short film wasn't up to par with some of Keaton's other works, it was still very funny. He remains my favorite silent film star for a reason. It's unfortunate that there was a blackface segment...not something the film and theater world can be proud of. Luckily it was brief, and rather offset by the other impersonations Keaton was doing within the same segment. This one still worth a watch, in my opinion.
This is one hell of an animated short. In my opinion the voiceover and music, while fine enough, do not do justice to the animation. My god is the animation frightening. It's so well done.
