Anthony Perkins’s ability to evoke empathy and terror with his Norman Bates always disarms me. I’ve seen this countless times and I’m always surprised at how compelling this character is.
A quiet, beautiful slice of life that allows its characters to dictate the pace, not the narrative. Admittedly, it is slow at times, but I’m grateful that movies like this exist. ***
