A good sci fi movie with great visuals and some fine action sequences. I also liked Sharlto Copley as an out and out baddie, as well as seeing a different approach from Matt Damon. A director to watch.
I didn't see what was coming in this movie and I found it gritty and entertaining. It showed another (welcome) side to Arnold's abilities with more nuanced acting and for that I am grateful. Plenty of action, especially near the end.
As an adult, I appreciated it, saying what it does about family - perhaps some of us need a reminder about that occasionally. Our 6 year old loved it. Plenty of action, excitement and humour. Highly recommended.
If you haven't seen the two main stars in a movie together, I would recommend MACAO first, then get a hold of HIS KIND OF WOMAN. Not the best plots, but they don't make them like this any more - that goes for the movies and the movie stars.
This was nothing special, despite all the talent thrown at it. I do wonder what Guillermo Del Toro would have made of it, though. I bought all the Rings films new, but the Hobbit films I'm buying used - it is as if the time has passed. At least they promote New Zealand. If you like action fantasy, look at the Hellboy films instead. There are not so many characters to keep track of.
This is a movie for those who know Burt from comedic roles and want to see something different. Burt had worked with the director before in THE LONGEST YARD, which is a quirky classic. I liked this and it also had a melancholic aspect to it. It also has one of those endings that were so popular in the 70's - if you've seen enough of those types of dramas, you know what I mean.
Very much like an 80's film, but seeing as that's when I grew up, that's OK with me. Stallone can do no wrong really - I'm glad he continues to perform. I'll be there to support him without irony. Watch and enjoy - there's always the art house if you need that itch scratched.
Absolutely fantastic - great directing and script, with realistic acting, action and period flavour. I heard about the film a while ago and found the DVD by accident. Well worth it for real film fans.
Wow, what a disappointment. Some great archival footage, but they don't tell you when it was taken or where. The Beatles Anthology documentary was over 7 hours long and the Stones have been going a lot longer - I think they wanted something out quickly. This is 130 minutes or so in length. The film just stops at the end - no celebration of their achievements or how they took their blues influences and made their unique sound. Maybe someone else will make a better film about them one day - in the meantime, listen to the records, you will at least get your money's worth.
It's so good to see Rhys playing a Welshman. I wished there had been some subtitled Welsh dialogue, as Rhys speaks the language. Overall, a good film. If you haven't read the book of the same name, seek it out. A lot more detail is covered.
A film which surprised me, in a good way, by not having the usual things happen at the usual times. Imagine Arnie as a better actor and this is what you get. I hope Dwayne keeps improving, which he is certainly doing based on this film.
For those of you haven't seen this, I highly recommend it for the laughs and the little moments of truth, not to mention the incredible scenery. Do make sure you see the first film too, called THE TRIP. There's two versions of these movies - the 90 minute theatricals and the 3 hour 6 episode TV series. I'd recommend the longer versions.
Hoo boy! I envy those that haven't seen this or Foxy Brown. Both films are full to the brim with action and attitude - not to mention the talents of Pam Grier. Check them out.
Extremely enjoyable film - we all know we leave our brains at the door when we watch these movies! Another good movie to add to both leads' body of work.
For those who have been Alan fans since the 90's, like myself, this has been worth the wait. If you haven't seen the TV shows, you will still enjoy the film but you'll miss out on a few references. Buy the TV show DVD's and immerse yourself in Partridgeland. A very enjoyable film.
Like others, I'm a fan of this crew of actors and have seen all the other films they've made together. This one wasn't in the same league as those. That may be because it's too close to the bone when it comes to how Hollywood works (and after all, the people making this should know all about that subject). It is a little unnerving because of this, which makes it hard to find funny. Do seek it out, though, as you'll see some fine acting.
This is a very enjoyable comedy about some hopeless criminals. If you're watching it because you like George Clooney, rent it instead, as he's in the film for about 5 minutes. The rest of the cast are fantastic.
It was good to see Guillermo Del Toro direct a bigger type of picture, something that will get his name out there beyond the comic book fraternity. I hope it helps him to make other films of his own choosing, the way he wants to make them. This film was solid entertainment.

Entertaining, but sobering. Similar to GoodFellas, in that it shows a rise and fall, but apart from that, distinctive in its own right.Movie comment on Edge of Tomorrow
