I watched this today, thinking I had not managed to finish it previously - my own comment below of a few years ago now tells me I did! My opinion remains the same. Very hard work getting through this film.

This was shot in Brighton and Hove - which is where I live - and I was very pleased to have been able to watch it on a big screen at Brighton railway station - lovely!

Awful, awful, awful. I was forced to watch it while babysitting :-(

Very disappointing and I see that the studio hacked to bits Jean Renoir's story and final cut (so he is not the one to blame, 'ronin48'), which definitely showed. And despite being just 66 (!) minutes in length, getting through it was hard work. A real shame, as I feel this had the potential to be a good one. It is no wonder that Renoir left the country after that experience.

I know I am in the minority, as I found this wholly unwatchable. I found myself with no interest in the characters or the outcome. I switched it off after an hour or so, which is very rare for me; I do tend to push through and can think of less than a handful of films on which I have given up midway. Maybe I will try again one day, but I would rather be outdoors sniffing roses.

I loved it so much that I went to see it again when an opportunity arose; I don't think I have ever done that before. It was just as majestic the second time round. Perfection.

Simply awful 1980s US made-for-TV melodrama. No redeeming features - not even a beautiful 19-year-old Rob Lowe - and even Gena Rowlands seemed to be doing amateur dramatics. Poor.

A very unique perspective on the Second World War, in a land not often considered, and the Nazis' attempts to turn lifelong friends and neighbours against each other. Poignant.

Wonderful. Its beauty, emotion and delight made me want to hug the screen throughout. My no.1 film of 2015.

I have just remembered that I saw this on a plane about seven years ago. Yes, it was THAT memorable.

Like the poster below, I didn't know much about this film before going to see it, but the depiction of horrible physical and mental cruelty to animals was too much for this sensitive soul, and I had to get up and leave the cinema for the first time in my life. The opening shot was a beautiful one, otherwise - a tough one, that's for sure.

A funny, sweet little film. I happened to catch it on the television last night, and wondered how I'd missed it before. Dare I say 'delightful', without it sounding condescending. The youngest lad also gets some of the best dialogue. Lovely.

Weak. And I can't understand how anyone thought it would be a good idea to cast Colin Firth as a Texan, particularly in a film that goes nowhere. Painful.

Wonderful and inspiring.

Enea is a 29-year-old bloke with learning disabilities who just wants to experience love and find his 'forever girl'.
I am a 42-year-old female without learning disabilities who wholly related to his quest.

Some may see this film being about someone *with* 'special needs', but I see it is showing us just one of the important ways in which we are all the same, regardless of our mental capacity. The friendship between Enea and his two friends was also really outstanding and a highlight for me.

I am very pleased to have seen this film as part of the Sick! Festival Brighton (UK), in conjunction with Oska Film Festival, which specialises in films made by, about and for those with learning disabilities.

A good cast, but painfully predictable to the point I began to say aloud (annoying, I know) what would happen next and it did. Not really one to make an effort to see, but worth a go if you happen upon it by mistake.

I really enjoyed this and didn't realise until the end of the 'making of' doc (on the DVD extras) that it didn't have a release until 2012. Given the opportunity, do watch the doc, which, at 90 minutes, is long but well worth it for the anecdotes about the cast; the overall consensus of cast and crew of how utterly charming was Peter Cushing is worth it alone. In fact, after the watching the doc the morning after the film, I watched the film again straight away with new eyes - I've never done that before! Good stuff.

Happy to be the person to have this one added here! I caught it on iPlayer (UK) earlier this week, having been stuck home ill for a few days and watching just about everything going.

My first ever Welsh-language film - small, but mighty. Worth a watch if you see it come round.

The least Mike Leigh 'Mike Leigh film' I have seen, this one left me very disappointed. The first half an hour could've benefited from subtitles, as well, so extreme was the mumbling and grunting of Timothy Spall. For me, the cinematography was the star of the show, along with Marion Bailey (Mrs Booth).

Not one to make an effort to see.

I bought this at Poundland (for - you guessed it - £1) for both Crispin Glover and Rik Mayhall. I can't say it would have been worth much more!

Excellent. A British indie thriller that has no specific 'genre', with great acting, music and story. I have to say I am not easy to please with new films, but found this top, top edge-of-your-seat stuff. Well worth seeking out - but don't read anything about it first!

I realise that this film is meant to be a 'modern classic', but it did nothing for me, I'm afraid. At least now I know...

VERY kooky. Loved it. Worth seeking out (I got in on DVD from Lovefilm here in the UK).

Really liked it; lots of quirk. Marianne Sägebrecht is fantastic. Happily, I have watched the EU version, which is 10 minutes longer than the US cut. I am surprised to not see it here under the title I always remembered it as, BAGDAD CAFE.
