Sporting that attitude, that guy would have been sent home in 5 minutes in the real world.

I cringed so much at the end it made me laugh. it felt like a crescendo starting with beautiful violins and flutes going onto a full orchestra and then it added a whole vocal section [here I was like hey, why isn't this a big thing? this is awesome] and then at the very end, a stretched, wet, fart.

Does anyone have any leads on where this can be watched?

Great production, acting and story. Due to the level of detailing, the 30's are very well remade, making the era come to life. Clancy Brown does an amazing job.
Highly recommended. Shame that HBO cancelled it, once again illustrating how simple tastes ruin good series (remember Firefly?)

meh, was not expecting much.
as the movie has quite some production value, I was quite disappointed with the ending.

I quite liked this one. Nice little series, not too serious, comically written.

Could be worse. There is some humor, fresh costumes and some cool weapons. The story I found ok. the violence is sometimes excessive spoiler and don't get me wrong, I like a lot Japanese sword fighting movies.

i'd give it a solid 7

p.s.: If you wanted something better, check out 'Seppuku'

Stunningly original. Excellent acting, I especially liked Michael Gambon. The way the soundtrack and the production design work together, you can really imagine being there.

As a Portuguese speaker, it was toe-curling to watch this. To me the acting was way over the top, as if classic theater would have been the way that everyone always would speak. having said that, I usually think the lines are brought badly with Portugese movies. 'Aquele querido mes de agosto' on the other hand (where there is little acting) is to me a great portrayal of the Portugese people and embodies the true potential of the language: expressive and hilarious conversation.

I think this movie is morally bad as it may very well do harm to the young female minds that are exposed to this kind of films. The propagation of adventurous actions is definitely something I do applaud, let this be clear. This being said, I think this movie endorses bad influences that are impersonated by the role of Patrick. For me he embodies a bad person that can be very charming to young girls. Unfortunately this kind of person can have bad influence on the lives of others and this movie shows how this should be a "good and exciting" thing. I hope in the future this movie will not be seen as a fairy-tale but as an exemplar movie about how badly choosing your company can have bad consequences.

I thought it was quite bad.
Dialogues going nowhere, a bit dualistig with both the christian 'god' and some natural superbeiing (mononoke ripoff?) that is briefly seen.

@daisyaday, Japan bombed a military harbor, America bombed civilians. besides that, it is good to see both sides of a war.

very, very bad. it even made me laugh at times due to the ridiculousness

to bad though, such great immages and effects spoiled with a horribly bad script and cheesy story

*warning* keep a puking-bag at hand, because it has the worst american-movie-cliches
