I like it, but it does remind me too much of Facebook; and way too many sites use blue these days anyway. No desire to keep the original red/green/beige palette?
This should've been made an official list the moment it came out! No exaggeration, it's really a billion times more important than the IMDb or Reddit top 250 lists.
Hell, I'd disqualify this list just based on the kind of people in the Reddit community. It's a Gen X fest, and is always the same mid-to-late-90s and 2000s cult-but-still-popular-classics crowding up the list, with 80s nostalgia sprinkled in.

To be honest I don't think it's fair to immediately whip out labels like these for films that experiment. If we immediately reject stuff like this as an audience (aka the people’s whose money essentially funds this), then where is film as an art-form supposed to go? I’m not saying The Tree of Life has changed movies forever but you can’t blame it for trying something different.
I agree with Welles, this would have been a better movie had he directed it. Still a good flick, but, knowing the history of the movie's making, it's a case of what could have been.
A lot of complaining about the music going on here. The version I watched (Region 4 Mad Man DVD) had the original score, and it was great. It's not Metropolis-level quality or anything but it gets the job done; very atmospheric and tense. I believe the most recent Kino DVD also has the 1922 score.
Skip the cheap/free public domain versions and see it proper. The score for the one on YouTube is a complete joke.
Sorry Walken, but not even your MAG-NIFIcence could save this drek.
You know what would make the best Bond movie ever? No Bond. Just have the villain be the main character and have his plan thwarted by some off-screen secret agent. This one certainly would have been better for it.
I kinda wish there was a way I could favourite both films as one, as the whole thing is greater than the sum of it's parts. It's a shame Vol. 1 is the more popular one, becuase it's only really the first half of one story.
@dombrewer: No, he won't explain it because it's not important to the story. The screenplay doesn't "cheat", it skips the useless explanation because it would only crowd up the story.
Is it just me, or did someone forget to edit out the twist that Maude is a holocaust survivor, since it's never mentioned again after that? I don’t know, maybe it’s supposed to explain her outlook on live, but jeez.

This film looks terrible and I totally want to see it. Especially if the subtitles are translated as well as the IMDb plot summary."Yilmaz proves us that a food delivery or even a funeral might be amusing when considered correctly."

Late reply@ericaf: I'm saying "silent" isn't a genre. Just like "colour" and "widescreen" aren't genres.
