Poorly done. It's a pity the name of Judy Dench and Colin Farrell were dragged into this, they are better than this below average movie. There really was no plot or story.
The protagonist was played very well, but the style of filming made it lack something and without having beforehand knowledge on Emily some parts might be a bit confusing.
I really liked it. My mind was blown, at some point I had no idea what was happening, but at night I started thinking about it again and that shows it's a good movie - you don't just forget it.
I read reviews and comments before watching the movie and was expecting something terrible, but it actually wasn't all that bad. The IMDB rating is quite accurate. But Rosamund was really terrific as always.
Started watching them again and it's even more interesting now, because I get the jokes about work, women and other such. But still nice for children too. :)

Love it! Woody is a genius and the soundtrack also wasn't bad. Never saw Turturro as a sexy man, but this movie really showed it's all about confidence and understanding of women. The best way to describe this movie is a drama with lots of dry humor. I recommend it strongly.
If you like Christina Ricci you will love this - it's so her!
At first I didn't know this was a portrayal of a real story, and so I was very intrigued as to had she done it or not. And even though later I read about Lizzie Borden I'm still not sure weather she was guilty or not.
Plus, I really like the music. It gives an interesting intensity and feeling of irony.
I am no christian, but I did enjoy the movie. It was eyeopening - women have been repressed for centuries, but strong people (not only women, but of course, also men) can make it through every difficulty. And I do love a good history lesson.
Don't expect to see exactly what's in the Bible - it a interpretation, not a copy! But I loved it. There were several adjustments that really surprised me (
the water turning red because of the crocs blood, God being represented as a child, the way the sea "opened"
