So much fun! Such an original art style! Loved it. Nice to see that Sony can deliver movies like this. Hope to see more of this, just not a whole movie universe with 14 movies each year. Keep it cool now, Sony.
What a great film. Really loved the chemstry between Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. Gal Gadot was brilliant, and so was he. Perfect characters in this movie. Loved Dianas naivety. Perfectly funny, but not stupid. Kinda over-the-top inevietable last act, but it was fine. Liked this. Very much. Great music!
A pleasant surprise. Got a free pre-screening of this movie, and didn't expect much. Interesting movie which talks about something I didn't know was a thing. Shows a side of second world war I didn't know anything about, not many movies made about what the rich went through. Overall a decent movie with good acting and a great cast.
I had a good time at the movies. Probably Marvels funniest movie. All the gags worked great on me. Just very nice to take things down a notch after Age of Ultron. Also very interesting to see bits and pieces of Edgar Wrights style in and around the movie, most prominent is probably the way Louis told his stories. Nice tie-ins to other Marvel properties, especially Spider-Man. To be honest the entire last act was pretty great, even though the set up wasn't all that good. That's probably my main gripe with this movie. As per usual, Marvel is not good with villains. The pacing feels a little bit off, and Michael Douglas' character isn't all that great. But still, the movie fulfilled my expectations and then some. This is a very decent movie, and keeping in mind that the director and the writers left the project 8 weeks before shooting, that's kind of a miracle in it's own.
Bummed there was no Coulson. Also, Marvel can't do bad guys. They never get it right. Ultron seemed so menacing in the trailer. In the movie they kind of used him as comedic relief, and I never felt like he was a real threat. There was just many of him. Other than that I felt it was a well structured movie, which you desperately need when you are cramming this many characters on screen. Kind of insane how many people there are in this.
The new guys were great, Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver. I actually liked this reincarnation of quicksilver more than the Fox version, which was just too OP. He was cool, but too OP. The Olson twin were also much better than anticipated.
The last big fight was very reminiscent of the last fight in the original avengers. Same basic structure. A little bit of a let down, since I felt I had seen the fight before. But they had some new cool stuff too, which made it not too bad.
I didn't really "get" vision. He just felt like a random, incredibly OP dude. Just flew by when it was necessary, and stayed the hell out for tension when it fit the story. Maybe the story could have been told without him.
I liked the darker aspects of the movie, and that we got to see a lot of the emotional stuff around the caracters. Good relationship building between them too. everyone had a moment to shine, and we got to know a lot of the characters a lot better. This to an even higher extent than the original, which made for a better movie.
This movie hinges on good action and a likable cast. The script is really crappy, the soundtrack sucks, it really doesn't have anything going for it outside a likable cast and action. The cast have a good chemistry, and is still ok to watch. Some of the action is good, some doesn't make sense, but it's sometimes okay. Have to say that some of the car chases just fell flat to me. With a really bad soundtrack in the background, not very good camerawork and the noise of the engines turned to low, it was kind of disappointing. They have to learn from the movie "Drive", which has the best car chase. It would have been so much better if they just turned off the soundtrack, and amped up the sound of the engines a bit.
Also, some stuff that really bothered me about the plot, which is kind of spoilery:
HOW FUCKING LONG IS THAT RUNWAY?
Why wouldn't the plane just take off? A normal plane will as soon at it hits a right speed fly directly up to the flying height. this plane stayed at about 5 meters height over the ground for fucking ever.
Why would they just leave Paul Walkers wife alone when the bad guy said he would find their weak spot and use it? When he was in Spain? Nobody though: "maybe we should move the wife and child to someplace safe?"
Why weren't Letty interested in knowing who Vin Diesel was? She saw a picture of him and her, and still all she wanted to do was to kill him? She didn't think: "Ooo, who is this guy? Maybe I Knew him before I lost my memory? Maybe I should find out who he is? He might be somebody important to me!" No, instead she thought: "Kill." WTF?
How the hell did they know that Shaw was on his way to the Spanish NATO base, based on the paint on their cars? That might just mean that Shaw painted his car when he was there before, not that he is going there now. WTF?
Not my kind of movie. Which is OK I guess. Haven't watched too much art-house, and with the praise this one is getting, I thought I should give it a try. I really liked the soundtrack of this movie. It seems to get a lot of praise, justifiably. It is just so eerie, and sets up an incredible atmosphere, which keeps you right at the edge of the seat. You feel like something wrong is about to happen any moment. Also, it looks gorgeous. Every single frame has something interesting to it, and seems very 3D-like. ScarJo was great too.
But still, this is the kind of movie I just doesn't get. I cant make out what the narrative was all about, even when reading explanations. I don't find it very thought provoking, since I can't make any sense of the movie. I have no idea what was going on. It'll probably stick with me for a while, since it was so WTF, but still. So, I get why some people like it, but it was not my cup of tea.
This felt rushed. They tried to squeeze in half of Kyles lifetime into one movie, and were just quickly jumping all over the place. They glossed over big parts of his life, especially the supporting cast. I also got no feel for Kyle as a person, which gives the movie little impact. Didn't care enough about anyone in this movie. I feel like this movie had been better off trying to narrow it's focus, give him more screen time with his family, or maybe his company in the army. This just didn't feel right in any sense. Doesn't focus on anything, and just ends up falling flat. There are some good action scenes in there, with just the right amount of grittiness and violence, but it doesn't help when you don't care about what happens to any of the characters.
This was so boring. God. Sure, the acting is top notch, especially Ruffalo. He really outshines everyone. Carell does a very nontypical role for him, which makes him stand out, but nothing ut of this world. His and Tatums performance becomes kind of bleak next to Ruffalo. Still, the plot was so god damn boring, and were not able to capture me at all. Apart from the climax and a couple of wrestling fights, nothing really kept me interested. zzzz, I kind of wanted to fall asleep. Felt like the movie never ended.
This is a mans movie. Very entertaining action, the stuntwork and coordination is on point. Kaneu Reeves is great, with all the action and stuff. The way he delivers the cheesy lines too. He is just great. "People keep asking if I'm back. Yeah - I'm thinkning I am back". Just so great. The soundtrack is as steriotypical rock as you get. Suits the movie so well. Of course the movie doesn't make sense all the time, and the lines is cheesy as fuck, but that's ok. This kind of a movie is suppose to be like that.
This gave me a heavy Scorsese feel. And that's a compliment. Scorsese movie with a
feel-good ending
. This is a intense movie, with lots of thrills. Good in every way, what esecially stands out is Jessica Chastains role. She did a great job. Close to no soundtrack in this movie, which I enjoy. Gives the movie a even more intense feel. I feel like OScar Isaac is everywhere currently. I do not think I am the biggest fan, but he is decent. A well written, easy to follow plot structure, with enough complexity to make it interesting.
plot synopsis:
All about a man who runs a, I guess oil transportation company, tyring to makes his way into the big market. He has done well for himself in like 10 year, and is now (1981) tackeling head on the big guys. He is currently trying to buy a large lot with big storage options for oil, with connection to the sea. he closes off a big deal with some guys, and puts down a big deposit. People start stealing oil from him, by attacking his transportation trucks. At the same time police are filing a lawsuit against him. Due to this his banks bails out, his drivers won't drive, and he can't let them use guns because of the police. He is an honerable man, and wont do that. He gets deep down in the dirt when one of his drivers pulls out a gun on some hijackers, and fires shots. By a strike of luck he is able to follow a truck whom has been hijacked, and follows the hijackiies. He is able to talk some sense into them, and does also call in a big meeting with all the big oil guys in town. He asks them to stop robbing him, and this solves the problem. He is able to borrow some money around, and finds out thet his wife has skimmed off money from the business for all the years. He uses the money to buy the lot without the bank, and gains such political power that the police stops it's investigation.
This was great. An insane story I'm surprised haven't been told before. Overwhelmingly inspiring. The movie has a few things going for it. Eddie Redmayne does the portrayal of a lifetime. He really went all in with this one, and is well deserving of at least a Golden Globe. Maybe the Oscar too. You can see that he has studied Steven Hawkings mannerisms to great detail. What he manages to do and the emotion he is able to capture is amazing. Just through simple silence and his eyes he is able to say so much. This is a lot thanks to the script as well. The score fit's the movie greatly, and really ties the movie together very well. The earlier scenes is shot through varying filters, which helps put the movie into the time period it is suppose to portray. Some might not like it, but I felt that it added something.
This is a great movie. Kind of an oddball, stands out in a crowd. Should be Oscar-material, but sadly, I don't see this one picked up. Tom Hardy is phenomenal, does this movie basically alone. The plot is straightforward enough, but the dialogue is very good. It's sharp, and thugs really at your heartstrings. This keeps the movie interesting, even though it is a guy, sitting in a car, talking on the phone. You start to reall care for the guy, which makes me bothered by the ending. In a good way. I like thi, probably in a Top 10 2014.
This was a great movie. I was kind of scared, since the director is norwegian (I am too), and mostly all norwegian movies suck. But this was a great movie. A lot of it is thanks to an INCREDIBLE story which almost seems made up just for the screen. So heart wrenching and touching, it's hard to leave the theatre having not cried.
Cumberbatch killed it, just as always. I would argue that this is his best performance, actually. Kiera Knightly were all right. I usually do not like her, but she was all right in this movie. And incredible attractive in 40s clothing. God. Other than that it really wasn't anything that stood out either in a good or bad way. Just a decent movie which is saved by an incredible story and Cumberbatch performance.
Very creepy and an eerie film. Gyllenhaal kills it. NOt sure if I would praise him as much as everybody does, but it was certainly a memorable performance. What I liked the most about this movie was the mood in the movie, and the extremely good story. It's perfectly paced, doesn't make you feel bored one second. And it just builds, and builds, and builds until the end, where it leaves you with a great action scene, and a very satisfying ending.
All in all a very good movie, probably in a top 10 2014.
Didn't like this. "I hate the fucking eagles, man". Other than that a lot of the story was disappointing, didn't make sense or were otherwise just plain bad. Movie still suffers from a overabundance of, frankly, bad CGI, with not enough practical effects. Some of the green screen were horribly done, and you could clearly see this kind of weird edge around the characters.
Also, a never ending fight that does not stop. You will leave the theater tired. Basically the same problem that Man of Steel had. Also, I feel like the 2nd and 3rd movie was split at the wrong place, since the first half hour of the movie feels really weird, rushed, and has horrible pacing. It has a really hard time picking up the threads from the second movie in a good way.
Best this about the movie was the Thranduils mount. God, that thing was gracious.
Great Nolan film. Is it his best? Not sure. I'd like to say yes, but that's probably just because of my love of space and sience. Which this movie had a lot of, and it was actually great. It some points our sience doesn't cover whatever's happening, and then it becomes fiction. Sience fiction.
The visuals were stunning. Love how Nolan mixes practical stuff and CGI. To be honest, I do not really know what was CGI in this movie. It all just felt so natural. I heard that this movie was made without green-screen technology. That's insane. I Sci-fi movie without green-screen!
It was also a very emotional film. I felt like it, compared to other Nolan movies, were toned a bit down, and had a more emotional core. It deals a lot with relativity and it's consequences. Matthew McConaughey was insanely good. He just keeps floating on that sky of success he is on. Can't wait for whatever he will be doing next. Anne Hathaway was great too. I have always liked her, but I heard that some people who earlier had a problem with her really liked her in this one. The child version of Jessica Chastain also did a very good job. One of the better child actors I have seen in a while. Rest of the cast also did a good enough job, but other than the three I mentioned, no one really stands out.
If I had to critizise something, I has to be the soundtrack. Felt like it missed sometimes, playing up scenes that didn't mean that much, and beeing to intense. All up in your face. Gave some of the intense scenes less of a punch. Feel like that has become a problem with Hans Zimmers scores, lately. Also, why does every Nolan film have to end neatly tied up with a bow?
But, all in all, it is a phenomenal movie. The acadamy won't like it, but it just won the oscar for best picture in my heart.
Holy fuck. What a movie. So ultra-violent. So grotesque. Loved it! The plot is hard to follow. Not really sure what happened, but got the big strokes, at least. But that's not really the point of the movie, anyway. The action sequences was bananas, just out of this world. Also, the car chase was amazing, the way theyfilmed it and all. Just very good. Not sure if I prefer the first one or this. the actual action sequences in this movie was better than the first, but I felt like the plot was a bit unneccesary. The first one doesn't really have a plot, just constant action. though that can be tiering at a certain point. Anyway, a really good movie, seems like they had a lot of fun making it.
Who, this movie was intense. Really solid, until the last "fight". Felt like that kind of fell through. Also, very little backstory on the people in this movie. Makes you not care for them so much. Probably just Pitt and Logan Lermans character you actually care for.
The movies has the best action sequence in a tank you'll ever see. Overall, this movie has really cool action. But it is not able to build up the characters, and makes it ultimately fall kind of flat. That really important to a War movie, makes you care for them, their struggles and if the ultimately die. But, as I said the action is spectacular, so go see it as a decent action movie.
Ultimately I found this boring and not entertaining. GUess it is not suppose to be the biggest entertainer, but I really didn't feel anything for anyone. Hoffman did a decent enough job. Rest of the cast I felt delivered a sub-par job. Plot makes enough sense, but were not thrilling at all. Fell asleep in the middle. Had a clear message, though: Fuck Americans.
Not sure this hit me as hard as it could. Felt like a lot of the funny lines and references flew over mye head. But I still found it funny enough, and the chemestry between the two leads were fantastic. RDJ kills it as usual, I just LOVE watching him in movies. Also, the plot is suprinsingly complex, lots of ins and outs. To be honest, I felt like it was, at times, hard to follow, but I barely made it though. I loved the way the story was told, and Michelle Monaghan is a god damned smokeshow in this movie. Daaaym.

Had a clear message, though: Fuck Americans.Movie comment on Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Daaaym.Showing items 1 – 25 of 79
