It felt like it went on and on and on. Too many emotional climaxes, "I save you and now I need to be saved" and "I scream out my feelings with tears in my eyes" moments. Not well dosed and paced.
Honestly the editing was a bit of a mess. Feel like some seemingly insignificant moments were dragged out too much and sometimes we went fast forward. Some moments that we'd expect to be dramatic were glossed over.
I thought this was going to be a simple and cheesy romcom, but it actually fucked with my brain. They even went as far as changing details such as the rules of card games to get into a real 'upside down' world. But apart from that, it was also very funny. Recommended.
As a European, I cringed pretty hard many times. It's funny to know that Italy's economy for example is hanging by a thread, only held up by nothern european more productive countries.
Didn't have high expectations, but was positively surprised. It is the kind of movie you have to see on a big screen though. It had me from the beginning to the end.
Seeing this movie I wonder what do we learn from it? I did not like how all the men in this movies were just the sorry objects in a world ruled by women.
If i'd have to describe this movie in one word, I'd say "unpolished".
The dialoges are rather shallow, zero chemistry between the characters and no emotional depth whatsoever.
Just innocent entertainment for an evening, to be immediately forgotten.
My god what a fucking annoying movie, I can see how this won a prize in Sweden but nowhere else as coming up for the weak is something that they love here.
Those judgmental eyes all the time that say nothing but "I haven't been able to sleep for twenty years as I have been living in the past", the sense of entitlement (people have to acknowledge me, people have to meet me and sit patiently as I judge them), and so on.
And no, I wasn't one of the popular kids in highschool. I didn't go to my own reunion as I have nothing to say to all those people.
But seriously, get over yourself. Surround yourself with positive people, learn something you are good at, look forward, build a life and stop living in the fucking past!
Wow, how come this is not in any top list? I didn't know what to say after I saw this... guess Burma's fault is they don't have any oil, otherwise we would have gone to save it...?
Can't even begin to say how awesome this movie was. Great music, and EVERY line was simply gold. "We're in a tight spot!".
Furthermore my blues-loving parts started tingling when this guy named Johnson entered the stage at the crossroads, which was obviously a reference to Robert Johnson, the guy who sold his soul at the crossroads!
Very lovable and well-played characters, but a poorly written story (as for the film at least, can't judge about the book). It took me a long time to get into the story a little bit. The trial sure was interesting, but it felt like it wasn't given a central place within the film. The ending (last 15 minutes) was quite nice, but it alone had to save the film, by giving it some metaphorical meaning. This was nearly ruined by Scout coming to tell her father that arresting Boo Radley would be like killing a mockingbird. Why thanks, you just gave away the point of the whole movie.
@CSSCHNEIDER: Good comment, you got me to reflect on this film once more. Come to think of it, it is actually a film about sexual harassment and subsequent victim-blaming (even though this girl was horny all the time and I imagine her liking it, haha), which is a big topic of discussion in Scandinavia. What I liked about it was that you are never really sure whether something is really happening, or whether it just exists in Alma's imagination.
Your typical "destroy the city to save the city-movie" of which we have seen a lot recently (and Pacific Rim is bound to come out soon too). Getting kinda tired of scenes with collapsing buildings, it is really getting old, so making comparisons is inevitable. Something that a lot of the others had, was a sense of humour. At least a few characters that made you laugh every once and a while.
Very simple flick, and utterly predictable story. I usually hate these kind of movies, but I somehow actually liked this one. I think it was because of the characters, they were good.
I must admit I watched this movie in three etappes, as some sort of wicked series. And I must say I kinda liked it in the end. There is some erotic tension, and Alexandre is just funny in that he talks random bullshit the whole time. A firstclass fuckup, he somehow reminded me of The Big Lebowski, although such a statement will probably anger a lot of people.
The story kinda flows like a slow river, without too much happening. Also, Bernadette Lafont is HOT!
