I think this movie is destined to be a cult classic. First of all this movie does make a smart commentary on how these men are criminals who hoards of people view as legitimate successes. It also does paint Belfort as a disgusting criminal. So to say that this movie is glorifying or making excuses is not right. The movie takes you into the mindset of these crazy people to see what makes them be the way they are, so it doesn't make outside judgements. This man lived an out of control life, and if you read the book you'd see that little was embellished. Most of all this movie is crazy, crazy fun. I need to see this movie again, and it definitely has flaws, but I think it might just be great.
Wow. This is a special and brutal movie. I haven't felt this stunned by a film's content since I watched Salo: the 120 Days of Sodom, but the difference is that was exploitation and this is history. 9/10
