Given how monstrous the initial design for Sonic was, I’m kinda convinced it was a viral marketing campaign all along… The movie turned out pretty nice, even though I think I liked it more because my expectations were so low.
I understand @BareLolk’s feelings. It’s way too demanding to follow the film’s plot... you miss the blink of an eye and you have no clue what’s goin on anymore. While I usually enjoy “mindfuck” type movies, it’s just a bit too much.
While I love the usually darker tones in Black Mirror, this episode was a refreshing change of pace. Although it lacked a bit of tension, it's beautifully sad and fitting with Black Mirror's overall themes. While maybe not on par with the best episodes of all time, it's one of the highlights of the first Netflix-produced season.
While the film has its shortcomings, it's a nice little flick that should appease to horror/splatter and superhero genres fans... quite TROMA-ish in my opinion, or kind of a back to basics for the Gunn brothers if you wish.
@chunkylefunga:
I didn't interpret it as if the spaceship "brainwashed" Brandon, but more like this was his mission on Earth from the beginning, and he just had his "instinct" kick in at a certain age. Kind of like a Goku/Kakarot that didn't forget his mission.
The chemistry between Carol and Fury was really enjoyable! The humor was always appropriate and fitted the overall tone of the flick... I personally liked this movie a lot, also post-credit scenes were among the best in a while imho.
An important movie for a terrible page of italian contemporary history. Borghi's performance is incredible and touching, and the director builds a powerful sense of anguish that i accompanies the spectator for the length of the film.
I loved everything about this movie. The plot has its weak points, but every charachter is so well portrayed, tech/costume design is fantastic, soundtrack is perfect and everything is just so charming...
Among the best MCU movies for me, on par with Guardians (very different movies, but both spot-on and masterfully executed).
This is a true masterpiece, and worth watching on a big screen if possible... the heart and soul that went into this movie is overwhelming, and it's leaking from every frame. If you admire Van Gogh work you'll lose yourself in the beautiful animation, as every shot in the movie is basically taken from one of the artist's paintings... but you'll love the movie even if you're interested in art in general. It's that good... the script is absolutely secondary to the incredible animation work.
I honestly cannot believe that this movie is being praised by the critics and currently holds a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. To me it is a complete and utter failure, completely missing the tone that a Thor Ragnarock (the Norse Apocalypse) film should have had.
The movie has a lot of potential, the visuals are spectacular and the acting is solid... the real problem are the jokes ruining most scenes of a potentially great flick. To me, Wapiti's Korg character is the Jar Jar Binks of this movie. I'm all for irony and jokes where they fit (Guardians of the Galaxy is absolutely one of my fave MCU movies), but I found them completely out of place 90% of the time in a movie that should have been IMO dark and epic, with a good and fitting opportunity for laughs on the garbage planet Sakaar (some scenes here are absolutely hilarious). For THOR sake, towards the very end of the movie, during an emotionally tense scene like
the explosion of Asgard
there really had to be Korg's silly comic relief completely trashing the tone and atmosphere?
A missed/ruined opportunity... seriously hoping that's not the direction the entire franchise is taking.
The only reason I can't label this "the best film in the entire X-Men franchise" is that imho Logan can't be considered entirely a superhero movie... it's much more drama than superheroic. And it's just beautiful.
I wanted to love this film but I failed. I feel the clichéd story is just an excuse for the magnificent visuals and fantastic music... but I'm not sure those alone can make the movie.
