Ray Harryhausen was not involved in this movie (aka Tallowyck’s comment). Still top notch stop-motion creature effects by Willis O’Brien!

And even that one reel is compromised beyond repair.

How the hell is this film on no top list?

Oops, sorry, I misspoke. I meant to say:

Buh. Every choice they made to differentiate from the original was the wrong choice. Not that the original is nuanced by any means, but it seems like a subversive masterpiece next to this.

In all the films I've ever seen, nothing has stuck with me quite like this incredibly disarming film. Beautiful to look at, too.

Incredible heist film. Dearden makes great use of pure cinema to unfold the story. Quite remarkable.

Can't wait for some great 2011 movies to start knocking off a few of these fodder flicks.

W00t! My first platinum trophy. I definitely dig this list, even if some of the films are a little arbitrary, there are enough great ones and a few I might not otherwise have seen.

What a visual feast! This is right up there with Cocteau's La belle et la bete in depicting some of the most magical cinematic images ever. I was completely taken off guard. Hoorah!

@Scratch47 OR if you're six beers in at a bar watching it play on a TV with no sound and subtitles.

The creepiest part about this film is that Jack Nance looks exactly like my dad... sans Kramer hair.

Don't suppose I'm going to platinum this list until I get the courage to watch Night and Fog, eh?

Such a devastating film... the Keaton & Chaplin scene is kind of astounding.

Gag for gag Chaplins funniest and least sentimental film. Nothing but the funny. Love it.

It's a bold statement, but I'd venture to say that this film rivals It's a Wonderful Life for best Holiday film...
