Honestly would you expect a good movie here? No. You came for a slasher, cheezy as hell, you get it. The characters were horrible although kind of unique and also with a little bit of development. but over all I*ll give this movie
a pizza slice/10
this hurt. physically, because I couldn't stop facepalming. And I only saw half of it because i rolled my eyes so hard. It is not even entertainingly bad. It is just bad. Stay away from it.
an interpretation of the real horror children can face
and it was a good film in the terms of stylistic devices. But it was no horror film.
I think its strength lies more in the unsettling effects it has later on when you reflect on it.
The Tijuana part was great, rest was meh. First one had the best combination of frame and content.
Also why did everyone think the parallel universes were any good? It was the most predictable one and imho the weakest.
This Movie was bad. Stealing elements of star wars, Lotr and Harry Potter, riding on sympathies for Loki (who was the only really believable charakter) with no real message or worth. What is the value of this movie? It is just like Hobbit 3 a visiual overflow concealing the flaws and weakpoints of the plot and characters. Not to mention how they just twisted and turned the mythology so it would fit to a fricking sequel... THE DARK ELFS WERE NOT THE FIRST TO BE GODDAMMIT.
I had my doubts about the music choices of what i heard before but it was surprisingly good. The music was always perfectly tuned to the mood of the scenes and i totally understand that this would have been impossible with authentic music throughout. And concerning the overt symbolism? I guess that is just true to the book which had it as well and it was a nice touch. The film was the same malstrom of alcohol and parties as the book.
It's been a while since I have seen this film but I kept it in my mind.
It is a Japanese Horrorfilm, thus lacking the Aristotelian Curve of Tension.
You won't have a build up, climax and solution, be prepared
.
One thing that prevented me to really dive into it first was to watch it dubbed and in German, the speakers lack the emotional range of Japanese actors, while they on the other hand don't rely as much on facial expressions. Watchinig it dubbed was thus very boring until I switched to Japanese OVA with subtitles and I can tell you, it became a very interesting and riveting Horrorexperience.
So if you tried this movie but found it to be boring,
give it another go in the OVA
I tried to go into the movie without any expectations. I almost did but I ended up pretty excited as it finally started. From the moment of the three bloody stripes on Finn's helmet, I liked the movie and it didn't let me down. I admit that you might have some difficulties do get the whole story that happened in these thirty years inbetween. I bet it will be explained in future movies, though.
I can't really understand all of you who have a problem with the fan service.... I mean what if Abrams would have done his own original movie, without any appearance of the old cast etc. ??? I think most of the fanservice or "unoriginal" complainers would have rebelled and shouted "that's no real star wars!" "Where's Han, Where is Leia ??" "What is the relation to the other movies??" and so on.... you get the idea ;)
Personally I really enjoyed the film, I liked Kylo Ren (he is not the true evil guy... geez... he is becoming it maybe) because of his imperfectness and I loved the lots of citations and links to the original trilogie. I am born 1992 but I can imagine now how the "a new hope" audiences felt after the first star wars movie. Thank you, J.J.
i don't know the stories but while the movie tries to be thrilling, it is just boooooooring. save your lifetime, even the nude scenes aren't worth it. by the way why is he always naked ???
Such a bad film, flat acting, way too cliche` stupid Cameron Diaz and very very very stupid and farfetched story .... I don't know how anyone could rate this flick higher than 3/10.
Wow, really good Movie. High tension, intense and subtle Horror in the beginning. Authentic location, of course, some scares were predictable and also some parts of the story, but you can't expect something completely new and neverseen from a Horrormovie. All in all, in would recommend it.
honestly, it hadn't been as good as the first scream movie, but what sequel is better than the original? also i wasn't bored, i loved it how they made a great parody on every single horror sequel, including scream itself :) this movie was never meant to be taken for full, also , who expected a "the best horror movie of all times" to be the third sequel of a movie, never meant to be a scary horror movie. so, watch and enjoy, don't expect any scary moments and laugh your ass off.

I haven't seen the orginal (yet) but I have to say, I love the amount of detail. It really elevates the film over the slasher genre into the southern gothic. Ofc. There were some clichés but that is forgiveable for a 2003 movie.Movie comment on The Lion in Winter

This movie really really tries to include EVERY cliché. Watch only as drinking game or for Bingo. There were some really cool scenes in it that although were ruined by the rest of the film. It's a pity. A bit less overload, a bit more focus on qualit and it might've been almost goodMovie comment on The Houses October Built
