This is great but I think it needs a lot of context for non spaniards (I would love to see it again with a commentary track). It's a documentary that tells the story of post Civil War Spain using popular songs mixed with montages of archive material and other cinematic techniques that give different meanings to the lyrics of these songs.
There are films from the 90's because the period they consider is actually from 1983 (end of the dictatorship) to 1996 (the beginning of the New Argentine Cinema). Not the 80's as a calendar decade.
The day after its premiere in November 1974, continuity supervisor Carmen Bueno and cameraman Jorge Müller Silva were detained and later disappeared by the Chilean military dictatorship.
