This is one of the worst movies I've seen in some time. A huge budget blown on costumes and show- boat "storytelling", just terrible.

So bad, I wish it was at least comically so, but nope. Just bad.

I watched this movie late one night because I thought it would be a cheesy 90's romance I could laugh at. Instead the movie pulled me in, effectively mixing humor, romance and fantasy . Alec Baldwin really brought it in the kitchen scene where he thinks for a moment that Rita is back.

loved the idea, but hate the shakey cam movement, I get motion sickness and I could barely watch it, I was sick for hours afterwards ):

I think I had this movie too hyped up by the time I watched it. It was definitely interesting, the city was beautiful but there was definitely a lot of room for improvement. I watched the directors cut, and then watched some of the theatrical version. I could not believe the narration at the beginning! I definitely suggest watching the directors cut for your first viewing if you haven't watched it yet.

I just watched this movie for the first time last night. I never knew how sexist it is... every female character is pitted against each other because of... a boy. The only two that aren't are Nana the dog, and the mother (I can't remember her name). That's just one of many problems... other than that, it was pretty looking.

Read the book as a child, and loved the movie when it came out. Very well done, has a nice bit of humor along with a dramatic streak.

Such a wonderful movie. I saw it when I was young and it really touched me.

I thought it was quite good, but the ending seemed a bit tacked on. It could've ended with Kousuke and Yuri on the bike I think. Besides that it was pretty great, though in my opinion a few scenes could've been edited down a bit.

Love this movie, though not as many great lines with Gomez as there were in the first one.

yeah this was pretty much a re-enactment of the first movie... but it was still funny, and the whole spaceship angle was just absurd but in a good way.

This was such an interesting movie. I love that they let Edith and Edie to all of the talking. They were such fascinating people.

Excellent movie, it is not just a 'magical' movie, it is a period drama, that blends the two splendidly.

Yes, this movie was nothing great. It does have some merit for being the first animated/childrens movie (that I can recall) that recognized children growing up without a father, a mother that can't always be there because she has to work, in poverty, and not-white.

Loved this movie as a kid, the mystery, the intrigue!!
Also, I loved that it wasn't some prissy princess flick, Basil was an abrasive hero, and he always got his man, er, rat!

The animation is great, first of all. After watching the movie, I was a bit stunned, and definitely confused. After re-watching it I began to piece it together. It definitely has you questioning what is 'real' or not in the movie. Such a mind-bender!
