The plot is at times quite silly. But, the photography of the Dolomites is excellent, and the climbing scenes are extremely suspenseful and very well done.
The movie was restored and premiered in the new version in 2022 in Berlin. Well worth seeing on the big screen.
This is a very well made documentary about climbing a very difficult mountain in Nepal. It tells the story very differently though than pretty much all the other documentaries about mountaineering: it is told from through the eyes of the sherpas.

The views from high up on K2 are astonishing. The story it shows is tragic, and climbing K2 is obviously ridiculously dangerous, but I can still understand why people would want to go up there.
Unfortunately this is nowhere near as good as the comic. All the subtle humour that was fun for adults is gone, only the slapstick remains. Still occasionally funny, and a good watch with kids.
