Some really interesting ideas, but had poor character and plot development. It could've been pretty great if there had been a bit more depth and background and would've been a lot more satisfying.

I actually really liked this. I think it could've gone deeper with the concept but dealt with it in an interesting way and I liked how everyone got increasingly shallow and self-absorbed and only some noticed while the rest went along with it.

I just got back from seeing this at the cinema and it got the most Australian reaction I've ever seen.

*fade to black* Director's name comes up
Guy in cinema (super 'Strayan accent): Aww, get fucked.
*Audience bursts into laughter*

No, this is the yearly poll we do every year on the iCM forum. It was the IMDb board's list that used to be official, but due to it being outdated and not being put together very well it was decided to make it unofficial.

I literally laughed out loud at the scene erselgider mentioned. Normally I try to keep laughter down to a quiet giggle at the cinema, but it just uncontrollably came out of me.

If this had better actors, no dubbing and scarier rats this would've been pretty good. But as it stands it's kind of like partly bad, partly good. Thus watchable.

@Blocho; although the description is purposely written to sound a bit snobby, I mean the people who instantly dismiss horror as trash and fluff; this includes 'fans' of horror as well as people who don't like horror. I see a lot of people saying things like 'oh a new horror film is out at the cinema, let's see it for giggles and to waste 90 minutes. Woohoo I love horror!'. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it contributes to the anti-horror crowd thinking that all horror and horror fans are mindless and just looking for a cheap thrill. Horror can be mindless fluffy trash just like any other film, but I feel it's unfairly discarded as something that doesn't require a second thought instead of digging a little further under the surface.

The 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' scene is one of my favourite scenes ever, it cracks me up every time. Brilliant film.

I liked that it kind of didn't hold back and showed stuff (it was not the usual 'kiddy' ghost story), but the acting and dialogue almost killed me. Some of it would be kind of creepy and then the 'acting' would make me burst out laughing. The film definitely got better as it went on but even though it's not really very good, it's worth a watch.

Finally got this list done and 'officialised' for this year's edition. It's just a little companion list to TSZDT - top ranked films with less than 1000 votes on IMDb (as of a few months ago when I grabbed the data).

Oh Cliff
Sometimes it must really feel as if
You really are a cliff
When fascists keep trying to push you over it
Are they the lemmings
Or are you Cliff
Or ARE you Cliff?

At first it was a semi-entertaining predictable generic jumpscare fest, but then it just got stupid and I've already forgotten what happened.

The best of the current steam of YA films, but still highly flawed. It's 'mindlessly' entertaining, but still quite dumb and predictable and the characters are all just stereotypes. But it somehow works because there is a slight air of mystery to it which isn't just dropped in at the beginning and doesn't even really explain anything at the end - which is a good thing and a bad thing because I am not interested enough in watching more films to find out more, but it was enough to not be entirely anti-climactic. There is thankfully no stupid ass romance subplot (apparently saved for sequels) and no real Mary Sue characters (yeah, the lead is a bit but not as bad as he could've been). It had absolutely nothing going on beneath the surface, but it wasn't an entirely bad way to spend 2 hours.
