I just watched this after finishing the novel. Bancroft is truly great. A correction to the comment above though. She lost the Oscar to another Julie, Andrews not Christie. Also a great performance by the light great Peter Finch.
Saw a restored version of this with a live piano score at the 100th anniversary of the last of Dallas’ movie palaces (which only occasionally shows films). Fantastic,
