wow that ending...
as soon as they are rich they burn their money, let these good-hearted, poor little elves work as if they were slaves and feed them with cheap doughnuts to keep them strong and happy.
thats how you teach your children from very early on how to exploit the working class.
so apparently having "it" means being somewhat pretty, childish and selfish. guess one could fall for her if you desperately seek for a teenager as your lover.
liked the first half. was funny to see in which ways he proposed and got rejected. unfortunately it became kinda tedious when the chase scene started. there are so many chase scenes in buster keaton movies (especially in his shorts), at some point they just arent funny anymore.
it's basically mad max:fury road taking place during the civil war. after having seen a bunch of other silent movies and seeing "the general" the second time now i still like it for its entertainment value but calling it the best silent movie ever made (as voted on silentera.com and others) is a stretch and has imho more to do with popular consent and availability than actual quality. in the end it's just an action movie with some comedic elements, which sounds strangely familiar to the formular on how they make blockbusters nowadays
the animations were done with so much love it's just a blast to watch the movie. if it weren't for the intertitles one could barely imagine it was done over 90 years ago, feels like it could be released today. despite having some weaknesses concerning the story it definitely earned a spot among my favorite silent movies.
one cliché follows the next, the story is predictable from the very beginning, billy crystal's humor and self-pitying gets annoying quickly and the overly melodramatic music makes me hate the movie even more. btw why exactly has jack palance received the oscar for this?
2/10 stars
Full of clichés, horrendous actors and a totally unlogical and predictable plot. Even the humor is pretty questionable sometimes. "Dodgeball" serves as a textbook example for a bad movie

The real question is whether these 50 people were actually real humans. Because they didn't behave like that.Movie comment on Jolly Little Elves
