Pacific Rim is probably the most impressive rendition of monsters and robots fighting we will ever see. What a shame everything else about it is terrible.
Plot is totally scatter-shot. There are interesting themes here that the film only tackles very VERY briefly. 75 minutes of usable footage in a 150 minute film. Maybe it was ruined during those 5+ years in the editing room, but I doubt it.
The first ten minutes are as close as I have ever been to walking out of a movie. It improves past that, and the ending is probably its best scene. Overall just okay.
Oversimplifies all of its issues to the point where we wonder why the film exists at all. If it had released in English instead of French, it would have been ignored completely. Massive disappointment.
