What an absolute waste. I have to say it is the worst documentary I've ever seen.
- Pointless and irritating framing
- No substance
- Aims to be an intro, but assumes prior knowledge of the shows mentioned
- Disjointed and just a collection of Netflix SoMe promos
- CONSTANTLY repeats itself, both in topic and shots/lines of dialogue
The interviews are with cool people, but it is all so shallow and no one is properly introduced with context to themselves or why it's relevant to the documentary.
It also feels wholly offputting for the director to be constantly talking about how she's got no background in the subject matter. Top that off with the conclusion that it's made "by misfits, for misfits" with absolutely no self awareness.
I didn't go into this film with very high expectations and still I came away disappointed. The plot is so ham-fisted in it's approach that no one has a good reason for being in the right place at the right time, they just are.
Though Snyder might still be an excellent action director, I honestly couldn't tell with this film because every shot was so incredibly dark that for all I know I was watching a re-run of Man of Steel with the brightness turned down.
The ending itself felt so out of place and uncalled for that I'm still amazed it was approved. Superman's "touching" moment with Lois completely ruined the pacing of the final fight. Personally, a much better justification would have been a dialogue between Batman and Superman about what is good and right, instead of an incredibly forced "sorry, gotta do this" to Lois.
Honestly one of the worst films I've seen, yet annoyingly quotable because it was so awful.
It was offensive on all fronts, including racism, sexism, and offensive to one's intellect. The best joke in the film is a meta one of casting Vanilla Ice as Mark Twain.
I watched with subtitles and I lost count of the number of times it read "[Incoherent chatter]". For all I know, that's all the script consisted of and they all just kind of rolled with it.
Why they bothered to film this in 4K is beyond me, and absolutely shows that just because you throw plenty of money at a film it doesn't mean it will be good. Most certainly one to avoid.
Most times I leave the cinema I’m the chattiest man on the planet, talking non-stop about the bits I enjoyed, the bits that annoyed me, and everything in between. Sometimes though, I leave the cinema speechless. This was one of those times. The Place Beyond the Pines is a great film, and for better or worse the way it’s story is told is unlike anything else.

What an incredibly beautiful film. Be ready for some heavy emotions, as I'm pretty sure there wasn't a dry eye left in the house when the credits ran.A wonderful drama that has some great performances, an interesting art style, and the best scripting I've seen in a long time.
