I seem to be kind of alone but I really enjoyed this. I didn't like the original and expected to feel the same about this but I really felt for Grace Moretz's portrayal of Carrie, a large part of the reason I found this such an improvement. I really think this is the best horror remake I've seen in a long time.
While I enjoy films that you perhaps have to watch twice to fully comprehend, I think this went a bit too far. After reading a breakdown and explanation of the film I refuse to believe that anyone could understand the plot without properly pulling it apart and studying it; just watching it several times and thinking about it isn't really enough. But maybe that's not really a bad thing.
At the same time I still enjoyed watching it, despite not totally understanding what was going on.
It was actually half decent until a certain part, then the last half hour or so really brought the whole film down. It was always going to be watchable with Jennifer Lawrence in it though.
I'm reading all these positive comments in a sarcastic tone but I think they're actually serious. I actually enjoyed the film but in one of those so-bad-it's-good kind of ways.
