Also part of Three Tales from Senegal which is a lot easier to find in library collections than the standalone listing

Silk Miller -- "Mingling the oily craftiness of a Mexican with the deadly treachery of a rattler"

It's movies like these that lead to bad ideas like Prohibition.

The original cut of this film was 6 hours long--it was later edited down to 3 1/2 hours, and subsequently 2 1/2 hours for the theatrical release.

Later edits cut that down to the runtime currently listed here on ICM and IMDB -- 97 minutes.

TMC is currently showing an AFI restoration of the film with a 137 minute runtime, with about 7 minutes of film consisting of still shots over the original full soundtrack.

I am utterly baffled by the complaint about Carol, since it was never on the list to my knowledge, the movie having been released in early 2016 after the 2015 edition was already out, and before the current 2016 edition was released.

The movie I am most upset about being removed is Drive, especially when it was used to make room for the likes of Star Wars Episode VII.

Removed in 2016
#977 Cave of Forgotten Dreams
#982 Senna
#985 Drive
#986 The Act of Killing
#987 Amour
#990 Django Unchained
#997 The Wolf of Wall Street
#1000 Citizenfour
#1003 Guardians of the Galaxy
#1006 The Theory of Everything

Added in 2016
#998 The Look of Silence
#999 Star Wars Episode VII - The Force Awakens
#1000 The Revenant
#1001 Saul fia
#1002 Bridge of Spies
#1003 The Big Short
#1004 Spotlight
#1005 Tangerine
#1006 Straight Outta Compton
#1007 Mad Max: Fury Road

In the intermission, Chris Marker yet again demonstrates his avant garde nature by anticipating youtube's monopoly on cat videos by more than a decade.

Finally! A film that answers the question, "What if Jeanne Dielman were an Italian peasant?"

The last 30 minutes of this movie contain some of the most stunning cinematography I've seen. The tracking sequence where you see the cathedral in the background of the bombed-out streets could only have been made right after the war.

Yet more proof that adding monkeys to a scene always makes it funnier.

This is an amazing documentary. At the same time, I do not wish to add this to my "favorites" as that seems to imply that I have a desire to watch it again at some point in the future.

It is so emotionally draining to watch this film.

Am I glad I saw it?
Yes.

Do I ever want to see this again?
No.

The script and pacing for this episode are all wrong. The staging of scenes and framing is horrible compared to other TZ episodes; it's like they got the intern to shoot this one or something.

I like Ann Blyth and thought she was great in Mildred Pierce, but she plays her role here almost exactly the same way, and it doesn't really seem to fit this part as well.

The actual film lists the production as 1997/1998 and copyright as 1998 so I'm not sure why IMDB and ICM insist it is a 1999 film.

It is an interesting reuse of other films, with copious application of experimental techniques to make something new.

There is no way this does not belong in the comedy genre. It's like someone saw the love scene in Team America: World Police and thought to themselves, "I can do better than that!"
