I've wanted to see Hotel Poseidon since user Onderhond's 5* review, so much so that I signed up for a trial month of Arrow Streaming via VPN in early 2022, only to not get around to it due to work and house-hunting pressures. Meanwhile, Hotel Poseidon is still not legally watchable in the Netherlands, and what a shame that is. Fortunately, there are other resources available, but one wishes it was a little easier…
The Quiet Girl will be on my mind for some time to come. This award winning Berlinale film and Irish entry for the 2023 Academy Awards is a beautiful, tranquil work that avoids melodrama and cheap, tearjerking thrills. The Quiet Girl excels in show, don't tell, and makes us feel more and more what is going on with these three people, until some of this is also expressed in words. When the emotions are finally let out without any restraint…
Too reliant on jumpscares and loud sound effects in my opinion. Docampo does a pretty decent job though in the main role.
Enjoyed this from the first minutes in to the end credits. Sharp, intelligent ánd funny. A handsome debut from Cord Jefferson, with a strong Jeffrey Wright leadin this strong cast. Hopefully there's an Oscar statuette in it for American Fiction, in the near future. I think this movie deserves some extra high profile recognition besides the Tiff win.

Fabulous, amazing fun.
Whedon's combination of mind boggling spectacle, witty dialogue and tongue in cheek humor lets him construct a compelling blockbuster out of an nonsensical and ridiculous storyline, while giving each of his characters a chance to shine. Even more fun and action than the first one and I can't wait to see this again. The plot barely matters, but man, is this FUN!

I thought it to be quite moving, and very painful in fact. The thought of the main character as unlikable never even entered my mind... I found his reality and state of mind immensely sad. Reading on IMDb that the actor is a pizza delivery guy in real life, as well as suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, made it all the more poignant.
