b. The title of the list mentions "Films You've Probably Never Seen" rather than "Films of Which You've Certainly Never Heard," and many mainstream releases of their day are listed. So, if you were a middle aged or older person, you might be amused that films by Lucio Fulci, Peter Yates, Mervyn LeRoy, and Freddie Francis, to name a random few, are included in a list of "obscurities." That doesn't mean today's audiences have seen them, or would know which of those filmmakers' works they might, possibly, find "amazing."
c. I find your comment fatuous and beside the point.
22 horror films on a list of 50 movies. This is closer to a list of grindhouse or B-movie gems than it is a list of overlooked masterpieces (which are legion).
Very random list, it's a blend of great films, some of which are pretty famous like Red Beard, and some attrocious ones, like The Bad Seed (which incidentally is also famous.)

When it comes to cinephile circles, Akahige and Idi i smotri are pretty well known, at least when it comes to the highly-informed cinephile and not a beginner.
Knowing this, I'm not so sure this list represents, ummm...a novice's entry to cinephilia. Unless a newly-passionate cine-maniac would instantly seek The Incredible Hulk Returns prior to any famous Marvel adaption.
