When I saw that this movie is 153 minutes I was like "oh boy, here we go". The movie is very entertaining and gave a great biographic insight to a person with mental health issues and a greatness for writing. I found the 3 parts worked well and provided 3 connected but separate stories. Very well done, and I could have watched more. I highly recommend.

This movie is a master-piece as a biography. It's Janet Frame poetry in motion.

It's a TV mini series pastiched together into a film which might make it difficult to follow or explain the stark differences between parts.

I found this movie very difficult to follow. Having read up on Janet Frame's life prior to viewing this, I found it hard to recognize some significant events in her life. Additionally, the dialog was difficult to understand, perhaps due to the accents but mostly because it seemed everyone mumbled so much.

I wanted to like this movie. I could relate to her mental issues and personal crisis but I found myself asking with each new introduction of characters, "Who is that and what is his/her significance?"

I'll have to read up more on Ms Frame in order to fully appreciate this movie.
