Imagine Rain Man in Tekken. Imagine him as Xiaoyu, to be exact. And then pity the ones trying to pull off this plot. Of course, it won't make sense or have any worthwhile commentary on something other than how fucking cool this kid is.

The movie should be approached as cinematic ballet - as a Busby Berkeley-piece almost, save for the lack of kaleidoscopic visuals. Yet again, Pinkaew proves to be eons ahead of any other action director and it's an absolute thrill to watch every sequence unfold its intricate choreography in a visually coherent manner. Increasingly, he seems to have become the new Woo of this medium. If the beautiful lack of CGI, and emphases on physicality and manipulation of space, starts blending with actual "stories", he may well take over the spot as reigning Action Man soon.

Regardless, Hollywood (from Nolan to McG) should hire Pinkaew as Second Unit Director on all fight scenes if they can motivate him without the use of an elephant.

Definitely didn't see this through for the story but those stunts where amazing especially towards the end. The scenes where the baddies fall off the building were wonderfully shot, I wondered how even with wire work where able to pull off those falls. In the end credits they show that one guy even had to go to the hospital because of those scenes. Worth watching!

Amazing film!
After a horrible start (I gave up after 5 minutes the first time I tried to see it), the movie turns out to be fun to watch. You get touched by the story of the main character, and mostly by the stunning action scenes.
So good to see this young lady beating macho men!

Chocolate by Thai director Prachya Pinkaew (or as we almost have to call it, the Tony Jaa crew). In the first half-hour, we have a touching story about an autistic girl called Zen, growing up with a mother who has cancer. Zen's idiot savant talent lies in reproducing movement, and after quite a few kung fu movies in her system, she's ready to take on the Thai underworld, the transgender squad and the Yakuza. There are some great bits of homage to Bruce Lee's The Big Boss, to Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung, and to Tony Jaa of course, as JeeJa Yanin (Zen) reproduces their styles, but at its heart, Chocolate remains a sweet, if bloody, family drama.

This is a brainless action film...like many others and again I actually like these films. I obviously don't have high expectation for the plot for these types of movie but Chocolate is just too thin. The plot is incredibly weak that I don't believe a 10 year old would even buy it. It's just not believable in the tiniest piece. Why didn't Zen just come with Mashashi to Japan? His Yakuza clan stationed there. They'll be safe. Yeah, I forgot if she did that then this movie just ends there? Zen is a former gangster before she retreats the crime life to gives birth to her daughter. She is very capable of defending herself in the beginning but she turns 100% feminine like those stay-at-home moms. Well, you can blame partly her cancer but she doesn't even have a gun to defend. Don't tell me if you have cancer, you can't pull the trigger. Zen is found out by No.8's subordinates that she contact Mashashi by sending a letter. WTF? Can you believe that? Who the fuck still sends letter these day? Why can't she just call him, goddammit?
