The less humans you see in such a thing, the better. The smackdown fights in a RGB-lit megacity are pretty nuts, why do the producers think we want to see little kids acting around instead of this? It says a lot when Kong is the emotional center of your movie and no one remembers the rest of the cast. Titanic CGI though with tons of loud subterranean bass effects, it would be a blast to see this in theaters. Fuck you very much, Covid-19.

So much exposition and rushed scenes in the beginning of the movie. The characters are pointless. Kyle Chandler with 5 min screen time. Laughably bad script and world building.

It's a great Kaijuu movie, but not a great movie in general. It's visually pleasing and well choreographed, so the fights are a pleasure to watch. The plot is pretty generic, basically exists just to facilitate the fights, and kind of assumes you've seen the previous movies. But why would you be watching this for the plot?

Just saw this in an IMAX theater! Loved it. So much fun. Exactly what I wanted/expected - killer fight scenes, amazing CGI of the two titans and it focuses more on Kong’s story, so if you’re more of a Kong fan like me, I think you’ll love it (that’s not a spoiler). Also, the humans are in the background as they should be, not in the foreground like the previous three movies. They’re not important at all, especially the young “Podcast Conspiracy Theorists” trio. It’s all about cinema’s two greatest giant monsters in the ring. That’s it. If you expect anything else, you’ll be disappointed.

Watched it for fhe monsters fighting, left unsatisfied. It's like it was written by a group of 13 year olds. Human plotline was weak at best and the entire movie felt incredibly rushed. 2/10.

Finally!
This movie is great, the fights scenes are clear and easy to follow. The human characters are charismatic and aren't shown too much (the complete opposite of Godzilla King of the Monsters), the kid (Jia) is a great and both Godzilla and Kong are developed further as characters.

The CGI effects are the best of all the Legendary movies and the Kaijus are the best they have looked in all the Monsterverse, I recently watched all the movies again and Godzilla King of the Monsters (2019) has already aged pretty bad, most the monsters designs are poor (King Ghidorah, Larva Mothra, Rodan and all the other generic monsters shown briefly).

I've watched all the 36 Godzilla movies multiple times and this one is pretty good, King Kong vs Godzilla (1962) was too silly in my opinion, it was entertaining, but not great.

People love to hate movies, but there's no reason to hate this one. This movie does what it's trying to do, definitely the best Hollywood Godzilla movie so far.

When I grow up, I want to work in Monster Mythology Development, which is an actual credit in Godzilla vs. Kong. These films are at their best when they're bonkers, and no worries, GvK gets us there several times, not least of which in its gonzo "mythology development". I knew very well that this had to be a Marvel-style throwdown in which the two "heroes" eventually teamed-up against a third opponent, but it still didn't cheapen their battles. Whether you're Team Kong or Team GZ, I think you got your due, and I've seen several versions of the third monster by now, and this one has perhaps my favorite justification for its rampage. Godzilla's my boy, but Kong is such a sympathetic figure that he makes everything better. He's got a better supporting cast too (Rebecca Hall and the little girl - are engaging, which is a rare thing in these movies). What I'm really happy with though is how clear the monster fighting is. The other two Godzilla movies in the franchise have been rather dingy, but here, even if it's night, or we're underwater, or there's dust flying around, the action is crystal clear. Very well done. But as with the other movies, the human stories aren't as good. The villains are especially dumb and one-dimensional, the comedy trio of conspiracists rarely funny, and plot convenience takes precedence over science and common sense. But giant monsters leave giant plot holes, that's often par for the course. So sit back, relax, and don't think too hard about whether the monsters are changing sizes based on the fight environment (they almost had an explanation for that which wasn't any goofier than in 1962's Japanese King Kong vs. Godzilla, but didn't seal the deal)... You know what you're here for and you'll get.

Decent cgi, paper thin plot, completely forgettable characters and an ending that we all sadly saw coming a mile off.

Nobody is going to remember this film in a few years.

And how was there sunlight in the middle of the planet? :D

The plot was so unbelievably loose I'm surprised the DVD didn't start oozing out of the player. Other than the fight scene in what looks like Hong Kong turned into a nightclub it is totally forgettable. I hanker back to the older Godzilla films where the human subplot was tolerable, the pacing was right, and they didn't stray into ludicrous territory with the plot. Says a lot that even with millions of dollars poured into something it still can't capture the magic of ages past.

I was thinking this would be better if it wasn’t so bloodless. Kong finally kills something at the halfway point and drinks the brains of whatever out of its skull, and it would have been way more entertaining if the entire movie was like this. Unfortunately, it’s just not violent enough, which seems antithetical to the entire concept of a movie about monsters fighting. They turned them into Pokémon. It was still mildly entertaining, but it panders to children, not unlike the Godzilla films from the late 60s and 70s (not the original from the 50s which is actually scary.) Also, why does this take place in Hong Kong for no reason? Shouldn’t it be Tokyo?

Look. You're not watching this because you're expecting Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri. Why is anybody talking about the script or dialogue or story?? Who cares?

You are here for big monke to fight nuclear lizard. I dont even know why they were fighting, it doesn't really matter. This movie kicks ass, the visuals and CGI are fantastic, the fights are cool, and it's so over the top and stupid that I enjoyed how dumb it was. It also surprisingly has some really cool neon aesthetics, reminiscent of Blade Runner and Far Cry Blood Dragon.
