This is a wondrous film. Hypnotic cinematography, unexpected yet perfect musical selections, all around excellent performances, and an amazing sense of place. The director's ability to ground the viewer into the heart of Zambia and make the few interloping foreigners feel like the ones who do not belong, rather than our lens into the character's world, is masterful. Gripping from the first frame to the last, this film was a wholly unexpected treat, with characters who will live in my mind for many months to come. See it.

"I get the impression that Zambia needs to embrace science and logic!"

Probably true, but given that first-world countries like the USA are not necessarily showing the way (especially now), it's hardly surprising. It's still easier for many people - anywhere in the world - to believe in superstition, magic, and gods; the world of reason is harder and doesn't give you easy answers.

I get the impression that Zambia needs to embrace science and logic! Fascinating film though, with some very clever camerawork in key scenes.
