The portrayal of the titular character by Mr. Davis in this third installment of the series brings to mind the Oscar Award-winning performance of Nicolas Cage in Leaving Las Vegas (Figgis, 1995). The expanded mythos of man turned Leprechaun explores the body horror of An American Werewolf in London (Landis, 1981) or The Fly (Cronenberg, 1986). And the homage to Cronenberg's Scanners (1981) is not lost in the epic magic battles between the two Leprechauns fighting for territory and, of course, gold. The multiple story arcs touching on greed, vanity, and tradition culminate in a well executed conclusion for this hidden gem of the mid 90s. 2/10
