So I saw both versions before I read the book. I found that Kubrick's version more fitting, at least for me, because King's version lacked the atmosphere of the music, the actors, and overall intensity. King's version just felt too boring, like it wasn't engaging enough, but his book is. I think it's because he's not really a director.
A better adaptation of the book, at least that's what fans and King himself says. Personally, I haven't gotten around to watching Kubrick's version yet (not a big fan of his), but this movie/TV series freaked me out.
