A brilliant western. Granted I haven't seen too many westerns as I would like to, but this one strikes me as a different kind of formula. I like seeing John Wayne sharing the screen with several other characters in a family aspect. It really adds some great drama to the story. The use of the plotline and screenplay in order to inform us of the character of Katie Elder without ever seeing her is fantastic. It's a technique that feels years ahead of its time here in 1965 when filmed. Just a great film. 7 years 2 months ago -
