Beautiful. I never liked The Devil's Backbone. The CGI & the atmosphere were underwhelming. This on the other hand deftly merged the VFX with proper use of shadow. And though this isn't totally a well-rounded film, for some reason I don't care. It touched my heart strings & that's all.
