If you export the list as a csv file, the movie ID #s all show up in one column. Would it be possible to set up the import page so that it downloads the csv file and extracts the ID #s, instead of downloading many pages? Alternatively, you could allow people to upload their csv files if they don't want to make their vote history public. If it's possible, it would probably make the import process go much faster.
A couple more questions: Will anyone be able to tag lists, or only the person who created the list? Will we be able to see the most-bookmarked lists for each tag?
On the other blog, Erik said "If you would revert to a free account, you'd also lose the ability to add/edit your lists."
If users lose the ability to edit lists, then many lists will become outdated. Imagine the following scenario:
1. Someone pays for a premium account.
2. He creates a list of Golden Globe winners.
3. His premium account runs out.
4. The next year, there's a new winner.
5. The list remains outdated forever, because he's not interested in paying again (which hurts everyone, not just the list creator).
It might be a good idea to allow users to create public lists that anyone can edit.
@piet: Will you be differentiating between "personal lists" and "definite lists"? By "definitive" I mean a list that was published somewhere (like a critic list), rather than a list you created yourself.
The definitive lists help the site and benefit everyone, so I think non-paying members should be allowed to create as many as they want. They're going to be created by someone sooner or later; it's just a matter of who does the work. If a non-paying member wants to help out by adding lists that everyone wants added, I think you should let him.
To avoid duplicates when people create definitive lists, you could have a system that automatically notifies you of similar lists.
@Crinderman: If users can pay to make their lists official, it would ruin the competitive aspect of the site. It would give an unfair advantage to people who pay, because someone could create a list of hundreds of obscure films that they watched, and easily gain hundreds of checks.
In addition there would be too many bad official lists. If the list does deserve to be official, then it should be official with or without paying.
It might be a good idea to let users pay to have their list featured temporarily on the front page.
Since you're looking for more features, here's another idea:
Create some pre-defined list categories (e.g. funniest movies or best music), and allow anyone to create lists in those categories. For each category, have a list of the most-listed movies, and another list based on ratio (# of funniest / # of checks).
There are other websites with similar features, but they don't use ratios, so the ratio idea would be unique to iCM.
I think you should allow non-paying members to join groups, and only restrict the creation of groups (but still allow them to create 1 group). If you restrict joining, then the groups will be small and not very fun.
I was hoping to compete against my friends from a video game community to see who can watch the most movies. There are at least 100 of them, but I'll be lucky if I can convince 2 of them to donate to iCM. It won't be a very interesting competition if I can only compete against 2 of them. In addition, the group stats won't be an accurate representation of the community's movie-watching habits.
Will non-paying members be allowed to create an unlimited number of definitive lists (lists that were published in books or magazines)? Or will those be counted as personal lists?
What happens if I pay for a premium pro account, create a lot of lists and groups, and then my premium account runs out? Will the lists and groups be deleted?
Will non-paying members be able to create any lists or join any groups (even more limited than premium basic)? Or none at all?
It's a list of the best South Korean films made between 1936 and 1996. If you haven't seen anything from this list, I recommend starting with Hanyo (which is also on the most favorite list).
If you're looking for a more modern Korean list, here are 2 lists I found on Mubi:
http://mubi.com/lists/410
http://mubi.com/lists/17570
There's also a top-37 list on the Mubi page which includes 13 films from 1997-2002. Other than that, I'm not able to find anything more recent.
@Sean: How can you say that recent Korean films are the best, when you haven't seen anything from this list? (admittedly I haven't either, but I'm planning to watch some of them in the near future)
There are 112 films on this list because it includes the 8-part Histoire(s) du cinéma, the Three Colors trilogy, the Marsailles trilogy (Marius/Fanny/César), and the Jean de Florette + Manon des sources series.
I just checked the IMDb processing times page and apparently they're still behind because of the holiday break, so we might have to wait another week or two for the short genre to be removed (normally they do it within a few days).
Never mind, actually it's not the only page with "moonlight" in it, but it also has the word "changelog" which is similar to "dangerous" (the new search seems to be very very typo-tolerant). But either way, adding the movie to iCM should solve the problem.

Typo, I meant definitive, not definite. Here's another idea (I think I've mentioned this one in the past) - a signature that lists your most recent checks.

Here's another idea: auto-generated lists of similar movies."Users who favorited [movie x] frequently favorite..."
It could be sorted by fav/check ratio, taking into account only the people who favorited movie x.

"the ability to show who all people who checked, favorited, and disliked a film"I second this.
It would also be nice to have friend stats on the film page, so we can see which friends have checked/favorited the film.
