I liked this one quite a lot. It's a character study more than anything plot-driven, so it's slow and thoughtful.
I found all the characters realistic and understandable, which is unusual for me.
This was one of the best shorts I've ever seen. Everything about it was just right for me.
The production quality was great, the story was perfect, the dialogue and performances felt very natural.
This is the short synopsis I read before watching this film:
quote:
Cops in Toulon, Simon and Franck, are celebrating the end of an assignment. On their way home, they smash into a car, leaving two fatalities, including one child. Franck is fine. Simon, who was driving drunk, is seriously wounded. He ends up losing it all. Six years later, divorced from his wife Alice, Simon is an armoured car driver. He struggles to keep up the role of father to his son Theo, now nine years old. Franck, who is still a cop, keeps an eye on him from a distance.
It did not prepare me for what was essentially an American-style shoot 'em up.
It was enjoyable enough, but definitely not the emotional story of a man trying to reconnect with his son that I went in expecting.
I've never read the book; my only experience with the story before this film was the theatre production "The Grinning Man." Which is very unfortunate for this film, because the musical was brilliant, and the film wasn't.
The acting was fine. The scenery, set dressing and costumes were nice. The ending was predictable.
All in all, it was fine, but I won't be watching it again.
I have slightly confused feelings about this film.
The first half was quite dramatic and built tension well. All that tension fizzled out in the second half, though. But the second half was very funny (the scene
at the beach
made me laugh out loud).
Overall, I liked it, but it felt a bit like watching halves of two separate films.
I've heard so much about this film that I went in expecting it to be the worst thing I've ever seen.
But as soon as I saw Asylum in the opening credits, my expectations dropped by 1000%.
It was absolutely terrible, but it was still pretty good for an Asylum production.
The cast did a great job (although I think Corden was an odd choice).
The songs weren't bad, but they just weren't great.
The movie just felt way too long.

I really liked this movie. The style was a delight; something almost Sin City-y about it. And the humour was right up my street.

I enjoyed this movie. It was a bit simple, but touching and sweet; definitely feel-good. The child actors carried it well.Movie comment on Season of Love

Not... bad. But also not good.No worse than most rom-coms, though, plus queer women. So overall, better than most rom-coms.
The good:
Queer ladies. 3 attractive couples, so take your pick.
A diverse cast.
Mostly fine dialogue, although occasionally oddly unrealistic
Written and directed by women.
Mostly female cast.
The bad:
Only 1 character goes through any development, and it seems to happen off screen: Sue was
So cringey at times. Lou was painful to watch at all times.
But I still enjoyed it.
If you're after a mindless holiday rom-com, it's worth your time.

Sweet, uplifting and entertaining. But nothing particularly different than a lot of other sports movies.Showing items 1 – 25 of 109
