A movie about perseverance and determination thus fulfilling the patriarchal, white-nationalist dream of 1930’s America.

This was one of the most inventive and cosmic documentaries I have ever seen. It not only reflects the identities and philosophies of Bowie but of postmodern existence itself. Not to mention great tunes.

Astounding actors, interesting premise, and a disappointing result. Talk about squandered “oppor-fuckin-tunity.”

Little known fact is that this is a sequel to Home Alone with Everett McGill playing Kevin McCallister as a grown man.

Some may say the visual quality of this movie is terrible, but it's actually very impressive once you realize that the cinematographer lit and filmed each scene using only a used candle and 16mm Fruit Roll-Up.

Saturday Night Fever meets I Know What You Did Last Summer.
In short, this is an uneven film that could have been a lot better! Also, there are several times in the film where the camera has a closeup on a woman's butt just for no reason whatsoever. Just meaningless.

Although the movie was decent at times, I’m assuming people only think it was masterful is because the last Batman movie was “Batman v. Superman.”

Watched this movie for a Marriage and Family Counseling class. Viewing the film from that lens, I absolutely hated it. Viewing it from a different lens, at least it gave us J. K. Simmons.

This movie may not be perfect, but at least it's not Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Herbert Lom is a sensation!

As one of the characters so eloquently put it, "this sucks on so many levels." David Cronenberg and Robert A. Silverman were the highlights for me!

To any Hammer Film or Lovecraft fan, if you are not quite sure if you want to watch this film, perhaps this dialogue exchange will persuade you:

Peter Cushing: "Are you telling me that an ape that lived two million years ago got out of that crate, killed the baggage man and put him in there, then locked everything up neat and tidy, and got away?"
Christopher Lee: "YES, I AM! IT'S ALIVE! IT MUST BE!"

This is a horror movie that would scare the pants off Darwin (although, mostly due to scientific inaccuracy).

Apparently, at the end of WWII there was so much not going on in England as to lead several officers in the military to become obsessively preoccupied with a so-called "Glue Man." For those of you unfamiliar with the concept (as I was), it is a person who puts glue in your hair and then runs away. Forget the Nazis! There are "Glue Men" running about!
This was a great film, but somehow that main plot point doesn't . . . stick.

This film is an aesthetic antithesis of Citizen Kane.
RKO 281 turns out to be just as factual as the motion picture it's based on.

This is a fascinating documentary for any fan of Citizen Kane or film history. But I do believe that the documentary could have delved deeper into the story of Mankiewicz.
Also, Sam Leve wins the award for Best Interviewee.

Extraordinary! I have lived in the Midwest my whole life (both Wisconsin and Minnesota). It is fascinating seeing the outsider's perspective. Malle continues to astound me.

I personally found this documentary quite mesmerizing. I realize that it definitely is not accessible for the 21st Century viewer. Overall, I found that the cinéma vérité style Malle uses amounts to an accurate and subtle critique of modern classism and materialism. It is not his greatest work, but is still compelling.

The subject matter of this documentary is fascinating!! I profoundly respect and admire Ralph Steadman and his work. Unfortunately, whoever cobbled together this documentary did so abysmally and made me feel like one of Steadman's drawings: depraved and anguished. The music also made me want to violently stab my tympanic membranes.

I love how the Hell's Angels hire a priest and then continue to berate him. Why'd you hire him then?
