New York Movies: The 100 Best Films Set in New York
Favs/dislikes: 13:0. Paradise and prison, bustling metropolis and the loneliest place on earth: New York City has a cinematic identity that infuses all walks of life. Even as we write our own narratives in this most famous of locations, we walk alongside fictional characters (and sometimes real ones, too, if we’re lucky). In selecting the 100 most essential New York movies, we kept the city’s boldness in mind. TONY Film staffers David Fear, Joshua Rothkopf and Keith Uhlich teamed up with movie experts Stephen Garrett and Alison Willmore to gather titles from all genres and eras—the widely known and the obscure—in pursuit of a complete picture of NYC on film. Our only parameter: The movie had to be set in New York City, not Metropolis (sorry, Superman fans), Oz (ditto, you Wiz diehards), nor anywhere else. Dive in, jostle politely, find your seat or ride standing: Please tell us what we’ve missed. It’s a big town. —Joshua Rothkopf, senior Film writer at Time Out New York List published on July 3rd 2012 -
Premiere Magazine's 100 Movies That Shook the World
Favs/dislikes: 13:0. "Instead of quibbling with the American Film Institute's list of the 100 Greatest American Films, Premiere Magazine decided to rethink the point. In its October 1998 newstand issue, it presented "Rebel Cinema" or 100 Movies That Shook the World, celebrating the filmmakers (and their films) who dared to be ridiculous, offensive, or even unpopular, and who still came up with classic films." -

iCM Forum's Favourite Films of the 1920s Top 200
Favs/dislikes: 12:0. The 1920s is a period in which the focus shifted more and more to feature movies instead of shorts. A period in which German Expressionism, Soviet Montage Editing, and Realism had a great impact on the development of movie aesthetics, which brought us (as some say) the highlights of silent movies. But it was of course last but not least also the decade of the birth of sound movies. Therefor the 1920s deserve their own poll. The complete list with all nominated movies can be found here: https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/icm+favourite+movies+of+the+1920s+complete+list/lonewolf2003/
